My Act, Up On Blocks

Took a fall last night, sprained the daylights out of my left knee and fractured my left little finger. The splint I am in until Monday plays hell with casting, makes reloading challenging, and typing is slow and lame as well. If my posts seem terse and infrequent for a while, that's the reason. TOTAL PITA.

Get better. I have had many injuries over the years, I know how frustrating it is and sympathize with you. We are pretty easy to break, take our health for granted sometimes.

Sept. 10, 2021 Steve left us. You are missed.
Hope all heals quickly. I thought I was going down this morning, I knew there was ice on the back steps, still almost got me. Stuff happens so quick.

My sympathy, I'm well versed in how painful a knee can be. Stay off it as much as possible & mend quickly.

Ouch. Sorry to hear that, Allen, certainly does put a damper on things. I chewed up an index finger with a 1/2" fluted end mill about this time last year and still don't type 100% like I used to (cut nerves), here's to hoping you mend well and quickly.

dude that sucks.
i tore up my sciatic nerve on the opener of the dove hunt and still wasn't doing well when the deer hunt rolled around.
i hate riding the 4 wheeler when trying to hunt but it was that or not go for the first week.
the only good thing about it was it gave me an excuse to not have to be the one walking up the hill and fetch the deer if i got one.

Coming from a guy who broke a bone in my dominant hand last spring, it sucks.
Get well soon, you have a new rifle needing some attention.

Gettin' old is not for the faint of heart. Good thing we're tougher than boiled owl.
I was on crutches for most of the third week of Dec. due to a ruptured disc from years ago and a muscle spasm in my back.

Take care and keep off the knee. Two finger typing for a while.

That's a bummer!

Wish you quick wellness!

Ya'aint alone. Bout chopped my pinky off this summer. It was not awesome. It was spurting blood & the wife was kinda freaking out about " ya need stitches, surgery, omg, ect". I spit on it wrapped in a rag, taped it on, & kept working. See its fine I told her. I'm lucky it still works ok for the most part. I made a little plastic splint for it. Only needed that for a week or so.

Get well bud.

The young gal that formed the splint was a cutie, but Marie watched her like a hawk. Marie was an E.R. Registered Nurse prior to becoming a teacher, and has more than once thrown flags when doctor's or hospital staff stepped off the straight & narrow. Still scenic, though.

I was not thrilled about seeing the docs yesterday. Had the finger not been bent in the weird angle it had, I would have just stayed home. But given the weird appearance, X-rays seemed appropriate. I am a right-hander, and did not truly appreciate all the good work done by the southpaw. I can drive, but that too is not as care-free as it was. A lot of things need to be "re-thought" prior to doing them.

Thank you all for the good wishes, and I promise to behave myself and to do what the doctors tell me to do. Well, most of it, anyway. Yes--I do have several new toys in need of field and range time, serial expletives go {HERE}.

My chiropractor told me a few years ago that something like 70% of her upper-back patients like me were left-handed. Constantly dealing with a right-handed world (doors, tools, etc.) is very awkward and difficult on the upper body. Sam Colt was reportedly left-handed, which makes sense to me; I prefer to hold a revolver in my dominant hand while loading/unloading, and so did he.

Allen, figures you'd marry a nurse. Cops and nurses. I used to date mostly nurses when I was in uniform.

I never thought about loading and unloading pistols.
it's funny how it's natural for me to hold a single action gate loader in the left hand and operate the cases with the right.
but seems natural to hold a cylinder swinger in the right hand to unload then switch/roll it over to the left to load.

A week ago, I tripped on a second stair from the bottom, with my hands full, and
speared my self head first into a wall 4 ft away. Didn't knock myself out, but came
close, and rang my chimes real well. Scared the hell out of the wife, and am sure
I had at least a mild concussion. Have a scab on my head into the hairline about
the size of a silver dollar. Will not be coming down stairs without holding handrail
anymore. Did not alter loading/casting or shooting, but was a real awakening.
