New Arsenal 5 Cavity Mold

I oredered Arsenal #360-162-RF (aluminum blocks), a plain base truncated cone CB design several weeks ago, but was unable to cast with it until yesterday. Although it took forever for my Lee 20b. furnace to come up to 750 deg. F, once it did, the new mold cast exceptionally well. Not only did it cast well, but its droppings were .360" as requested and weighed 159.8gr. +- .7 grs. (These were culls; n = 24.) I loaded 12 in new Rem. .357mag. brass over 5.6 grs. Unique, but may not get a chance to test them for a while: sized to .359"; OAL = 1.61", roll crimped in the generous crimp groove.

Arsenal molds are certainly well made and easily the equal of those made by Accurate, CBE (Jim Allison), LBT, and/or NOE. Delivery was fast too!

I believe they are the people who cut the early NOE moulds before Swede Nelson got his own machines set up.
They are re essentially making a clone of NOE moulds as they have the set up and designs from when they were the tool shop for NOE.

Brad, While I realize there's bad blood between Arsenal & NOE, I chose the former because I couldn't get the NOE site to apply the 20% discount during Xmas. I e-mailed Swede twice about the problem, but never got a reply. Ergo, I took my business elsewhere although NOE was (notice the past tense) my first choice.

I have no horse in the fight, just providing info.
I don't havel any moulds from Arsenal but have looked at their site. If they had something that filled a need I would not hesitate to buy from them.

Arsenal is cutting a lot of PC rifle moulds, not sure I'm on board with no grooves in a PC bullet, but people keep designing them so there must be something to it. I'm also not on board with the alignment pin design, same gripe I have about NOE, but since I'm the only one who seem to have a problem with it, it must not be that big of a deal.

I have a direct E-mail to Jared if any of you need it.
I worked on a couple of design issues with him a while back.
they are making a huge effort and have significantly improved over some of their earlier troubles.

If I really gave a flip I would buy Tom Meyers design program and install it again.
then draw up some small caliber molds and get Gator to make checks for them and run a group buy over on the other site.
I haven't been able to force myself to log in over there so that ain't gonna happen.

Someone on the other site mentioned getting a new Arsenal Mold. I hadn't heard of them. I asked in that thread if they do custom designs, someone said yes. So I used the "contact us" form on Arsenal's website to ask about a lightweight SWC in 41. Jared emailed me back...after a few emails back and forth, I ended up placing an order for a 5 cavity alum.

Jon I know this is for your Henry.

so this is just a general info thing, anyone with a Marlin in 41 will want a nose length of no more then .30 from the crimp [case mouth] otherwise they have a little hitch on the feed ramp when feeding.

Besides my Henry, I do have a Marlin 1894s in 41.
years ago, I bought a bunch of Glenhills Cast bullets, Lyman 410032, SWC, 205gr. with a fairly long nose length (0.390), as shown in photo next to the Lee 410-195 SWC, with a short nose. I made some dummy rounds seated to crimp groove, then crimped. While I haven't shot any in the Marlin, I have cycled dummy rounds in the Marlin with no issues. Am I just lucky? or will I find out this little hitch when I fill the mag tube and shoot a bunch, next time I visit the range?

you may have.
we done an informal poll a few years back and maybe the few responders I got had shorter needs.
[I was looking at buying a Marlin at the time]
I know Felix's rifle would not even begin to feed anything with a nose longer than that, so I started asking around.

I have seen the same oal issue with various 92's, 94's and 73's in 44 mag and 45 colt too.
my browning 92 will not even begin to feed anything over 1.610 it just jams up under the little ramp, my 92 Rossi will barely feed the 241 but only after I done some very slight filing on the stop on the carrier and bottom side of it's feed ramp, it's oal is stupid long with that nose.
my model 94 doesn't care either way about the length but has an oversized barrel.
