New H+G 130BB mold questions for all and CW

I just bought a "new in box 130bb and a 503 mold both 4 cav.
But the pictures show the mold block I think backwards in the the sprue plate part to smack is facing the handle pivit pin.

Looking at CW's u tube video using the same 130bb mold he has the mold facing out like I would have it. Question though is or did H+G intend to have them backward and then how did you smack them open?

I do not have them they are in socal my son in law picked them up for me.

Also I read the handles are "fitted" so can I change mold posistion I would think so nut never had a real H+G.

My 4 cavs are just that. Much like the lymans you can use in either direction.

My arsenal H&G 10cav cannot. At least not that I can see. So one needs be careful.

Good score GREAT MOLD's

I've got a 4 cavity H&G 50, and the sprue plate pivot pin is near the mould handle pivot pin as normal.

yeah to me thats normal but both of these never used have the mold backward.

Just wondered if that is H+G thing, now i will turn them round as CW has them.

OK found a picture NOT mine but both I just bought have the mold this way, to me backwards or maybe did not fit in box so they turned around? looks like you would hit the handles a lot.Mold.jpg

those look like KAL handles.
but, yeah I run mine like in the picture.
I gave up on whacking my plates with a stick when I put down the 1lb, twist and turn ladle.

yep H&G liked the nutcracker handles.
with the gloved hand you just crack the plate open a touch sooner, you can feel it after seeing how the cuts look a few times.

My 8 cavity on OM handles is reversible on the handles . Without a striker I don't think the average Joe could cut the sprues .

I mount the Accurate moulds 'backwards' now as I can open the sprue with thumb of gloved hand. No hitting, no really hot hand. Base comes out fine, 2x 30 cal and 4x 40 & 9 moulds. I experimented quite a bit on sprue opening, from really 'hard' that tears/scrapes alloy from the base to softer that just pulled a divit from the base. Softer shot better! PB 145gr for BO. Hard tended to lift the plate and base wasn't flat so accuracy wasn't as good. With my alloy, no tin, I get 2 'color' flashes and cut after the second. First is frosting, second is solidus. Harder to do with 4x or more moulds.

OMG got molds today and WOW heavy, clean and NEW.
Cleaned with mineral spirts and toothbrush.

put on pot set at 700 and started to cast I love the trough sprue plate, man this cast great.

Bullets fall out like rain and perfect out of 10 lbs of alloy a few culls with BB rounded.

The few culls were due to me getting used to the cadence and sprue filling I love this thing.

I left the block "backwards" as they sent it and works great did not smack pivot pin once.

Will shoot these over a rest tomorrow and see how they compare with my Saeco 68's

I can feel history these are 55-56 years old.

The other is marked 502 45 LC keith.

Hope you all get your unicorns.

Ya know... Know that, My wife dosent know this place exists...

She was in the garage last night. (Where I cast and powdercoat). While I was finishing up powder coating a batch of cast. She said to me this am that, she is gonna look for more cheap towels for me. Do I have a color maybe darker would not shot dirty as fast. She did not want to wash these in her machine. ;)

Check out an estate sale on the last day. I can usually buy a whole table full of used towels or t-shirts for a couple bucks. I haven’t had to buy Shop rags for years, but yea, sometimes they are pink! Lol
