New mold for me

Arsenal Mold 135 WFN TL. Its a used mold and thats how its listed. But i suspect it to be there Ranch Dog copy.

Im a sucker for the LBT/WFN and the RD is that. Im generally a heavy for caliber guy. But this in a 38/357 might make for a fine small game harvester! Maybe cast in lino and shot from the Maxi maybe I can approach limits of powder coating! ::).

Probably wont feed, but if it did might be real nice in my upcoming 357 Sig carbine!

Any one cast this one? Advice comments welcome!

I don't see why it won't work in the 357 sig.
they generally recommended a 147gr truncated cone type bullet for best results in that round.
IMO this nose has just enough rounded edges up front that your chances are waay better than 50-50 on it working.

lino?
no.
cut it in half with pure lead, maybe more than once, and buffer that with a bit more tin.

I was only thinkin the lino as a real hard cast for max penetration. ;)

We will find out soon enough! Its in the mail I might see it Saturday and Sunday is supposed to be a rain out. Maybe Ill cast some after Church.

I have no experience with that mould but do have plenty of experience with radiused tc bullet designs. If you powder coat it, wheelweights plus a dab of tin ought to be plenty tough enough for the Max, up to the limit of plain-based bullets anyway. Even at 1600 fps a tc bullet of 12 bhn will keep its shape just fine. Save your linotype alloy for something useful, like printing newspapers or adding to roofing lead at about 1 part lino to 3 parts soft.

At large, whereabouts unknown.
Yup. Ranch Dog. I have the NOE edition of this mould in plain base. It does work fine in 357 SIG, no feeding issues in my P320 at all. I also have a bunch loaded in 9mm brass. So far they feed in Beretta 92, Beretta Storm, P320 9mm, & FN FNS. The only gun that work take it so far is a 9mm M&P, the feed ramp is too narrow. Since all 9mm bullets have to work in all 9mms around here I will now repurpose this mould for 38 Spl, and have a 4 cav Lyman 356637 to replace it as a 9mm heavy. The stuck up M&P will feed Lymans heavy bullet.

I GOT ANOTHER MOLD!!

My buddys buddy, just finished shoulder surgery. He also had eye problems last year and was advised against heavy recoil. (Cant now with shoulder anyhow)
This guy would feed my buddy bullets when he cast.
So my buddy worked the deal to get this mold. He sent to me cause now I feed him bullets. ;)
Anyhow. Its a LEE RANCH DOG 460-350 GC. It came last night. Sunday is forcast heavy rain. So good bullet castin for me! (In garage with both doors open.)
Im also hoping to see the Arsenal mold today or tomorrow.

I can size this one up/down as well!!

(I already have the 460-425 RD GC mold)

Any advice here?

I got a new mould today as well. Got it in a trade over on CB from a gentleman most of you probably know; goes by Randy. W.R. is a California fella and he had a mould he wanted to sell/trade. I traded a Wilson Seating Die for this mould and I really don't know what to do with it; I haven't loaded for or shot Shotgun(s) for years. Going to get out and cast some tomorrow and see how they turn out. Randy says it drops @ 450gr depending on alloy. I'm going to use reclaimed water pipe so it's real close to pure.

what happened?
I was only gone for a minute.. good lord CW

Gary.
that's just barely over an ounce.
I could make some load suggestions and suggest a few things you could try if your interested.
some of the suggestions would depend on the bullet diameter of course. [and the diameter of your barrel]
I might also be interested in the mold probably for the same reasons you were... LOL.

W.R. Buchanan, IIRC. Isn't he a retired machinist?

I've been trying to ignore the Arsenal mould for my fixed-sight .38s that like a lighter bullet at 15-25 yards. I'm really happy with the Lee 358-125fn but I get restless.....

That slug mould looks like fun. I always liked the Lyman one that looks like a big Benjamin .22 pellet but never bought one because not too many people had really good luck with it.

Pumpkin spice bullets?
I like pipkin pie fine, but I’m not really a Punkin Spice kinda guy...

I haven’t been able to make Orange coat well. I was gifted some energy drink powder containers. They are med sized. I’m thinking that they made the difference cause these look real good!
