Welcome Roger! You cannot help but learn here from the vast knowledge of these forum members! I will not name them as to not give them the "big head.";)

The wealth of knowledge that is available to the person (s) that choose to read, listen and ask questions is priceless to me. That alone is the reason I joined here as well as Castbooits site. My father got me started on this journey some 30 years ago ,and I am an addict , of the reloading press. Casting doesn't and most likely never will "save " me $$$. However it does and will continue to allow me to shoot more for the same amount of $$, and allow me a certain degree of self reliance.

you don't even got to shoot more for less.
and forget saving money.
if you do save a little you'll just blow it on another mold, or lube, or a size die, or some powder.

Oh, casting will cost you money. You will shoot a lot more for a lot more money.
It will also be frustrating at times. In the end you will realize it is more about the fact you did it yourself than anything else.

It's mostly the fact that I can make quality ammo with my own tools the way I see fit, and when it's just right for this gun I move on either to a different style, weight,or shape mold ,or experiment with different powders, and charges. Once I am satisfied with that weapon and loads I move on to another. I keep a very detailed log of all my loads ,tests, and even some shot targets. Someone one day will be set when they inherit my goodies. I don't like to think about the money I have invested..... a BUNCH. I find the hobby very therapeutic. It runs in my blood.

You are 100%correct. At one point I was actually shooting more for the same amount of money I would have spent on factory ammo. Now days it gets rolled into more goodies. Be it primers , Powder, a new gun.
