I want one....my friends AR with a 1-8 and 69 grainers pushed with 748 is a 1/2" @ 100yds all day long..not much bigger @ 200..

You should do the right thing and go back and give them some more cash...until you do you will not be able to sleep at nite...:D

PS that's with a 20" barrel

Dan. I wonder how much more velocity I can expect from the 26" barrel compared to a 20" tube? Might I look st a little slower powders to take advantage?

That's the same stock I've been pondering on for the axis 223. Watching with interest.

Thats a good question...I can tell you when my 24" varmint barreled AR was new it would shoot 1/2" ...I used Hornady or Speer 52 gr HPBT match bullets and 25 grs of 2520..it has a 1/9 twist...didn't like anything much heavier...but I also didn't try and push them any faster...

That is a very nice stock. The one I have is similar but has the black bed-liner finish and no cheek riser, I kinda wish it did have one. How is Boyd's doing since the plywood plant fire?

That's a nice stock at an attractive price, Jon.

I been mulling over calling to see if they have any seconds as I'm going to attempt to make this one take ar mags instead of the chinsee over expensive plastic held factory mags.4 rounds is nothing in a 223.

Just yesterday I comited myself on another rifle. Oh well they probably don't have any lefties anyway.
On a side note if you show evidence of military experience when checking out you can get another 5% discount on any item. Including sale items

helpful hint with Boyds.
They may have seconds/ blem stocks available that aren't listed on their website.
Last year, when I wanted to replace the axis stock, they had several "closeout" stocks listed for $99, but didn't have any listed for my 243 Axis. I emailed them with the specifics of my rifle and asked if they had any to fit...the reply (which came days later) stated they had several in that featherweight thumbhole style, all with blemishes. I chose the "Pepper" as I wanted a color that wasn't too "showy" for a Cheap action. I couldn't find any blemish on the stock I got.

A year ago, I bought a 243 Axis from Cabelas on one of their "too good to be true" sales.
I strongly disliked the plastic stock they put on the Axis.
Boyds had some "clearance" priced ($99) stocks cut to fit an Axis.
I bought this one, linked below, and I love it...and it fit perfectly.

While searching my photobucket account for a photo for something else, I found a photo of this gun and Boyds stock...and thought I'd share

This piece of wood even has some subtle shades of green in it. I was pretty happy. The barrel looks like it is pretty well centered in the stock.
I should have spent the extra $$$ and bought a 1" recoil pad for this bad boy. At right around 14 pounds those 50gr V-Max bullets are gonna kick the snot out of me...

Better get a Lead Sled too :D

That's going to be one purty rifle, Walter, especially the stock. The adjustable comb looks to be just the ticket and I love how the "tactical" stock wrist feels. Junk the rear sling swivel and put a brass screw in place of it, or use a butt pod on it in combination with a good Harris spring-loaded bipod for bench work and leave the bags at home.

I use my stool for an anvil, keeps me from beating up the workbench. Chain-drive wallets are for truckers.
