New Wrinkle on Beagling

This fall I was given a stack of older Fur, Fish and Game magazines goung back a while. During this cold spell I dug them out and was reading through them and ran across an article, " "Beagling" expands the range of caliber that can be cast with the same mould". My ears immediately perked up and I read it. A thinker and he was right.
When we were working on this project, we were fixated on casting bigger diameter bullets for specific moulds in .44 and the .45/70. Both of these tend to run skimpy. We successfully solved that delima but never stopped to think about this process turning a favorite mould into a usefull bullet for several calibers if beagled to the right diameter. In his case, the 311041 was turned into a useful mould for the .30/30, .308, .303 Brit and 7.62X54R. A little thinking brings to mind other calibers as well.
It's good that others think out of the box and share knowledge. So use to having a favorite mould for each caliber that I over looked this neat idea.
Give it a try. Might work for you./beagle
