As most of you know, I have never been impressed with NOE moulds nor had a lot good to say about them due to multiple issues of design that didn't work for me. However, Al has always been a fantastic person to deal with and it has been enough years since I tried out his moulds that I decided to give them another chance.
Boy am I glad I did.
This little .22 mould is near perfect. Everything fit, the alignment pins didn't bind, it casts round bullets, it came with no oil on the blocks (maybe he ultrasonically cleans them now?), the finish on all surfaces is excellent, all I did was wipe the cavities out with denatured alcohol, wipe a haze of Dominator on the underside of the sprue plate, and warm the mould up. In ten pours it was dropping perfect bullets and kept doing so until my wife made me stop and take her to dinner. Got about three pounds cast in no time, only pausing to lube the sprue plate one more time after a few hundred.
Looks like I'll be buying a few more NOE moulds in the future, particularly the sub-30 caliber ones, and I'm super happy to be able to say that now.
