Nose First Sizing

For those of you who use a nose first sizer, what do you pre-lube your bullets with?

When "the perfessor" (Keith) originally introduced his nose first sizing die set up (black die holder) I bought one. It’s not been used much because I can’t find a satisfactory pre-sizing lube, and I prefer to not go the Alox route.

P. S. Other than the want ads, I quit reading that other site well over two-years ago. Does anyone know how Keith is doing? Did he get his prosthetic?

Keith dropped off the radar a while ago. Huge loss. I learned a ton from him when I got my lathe. I wish I had an email address, i would love to invite him here.
I use a Star and just rerun a lubed bullet every so often. Not every bullet needs lubing, just one every 5-10 depending on alloy and amount of sizing neeeded. Keep some already lubed bullets on hand and just rerun one every so often.

I run nose first through the star and use nothing or a shot of homemade case lube tumbled in for soft bullets that want to smear.

The homemade case lube is a red bottle of heat gas line antifreeze or 99% alcohol with 2oz of pure liquid lanolin & 2oz of olive oil.

I use Hornady Unique case lube. Don't need to lube the bullets, just keeping a little on your fingers as you handle the bullets to put them in the die is all it takes.

It takes some work to shove a bullet the length of an H-die using Keith's die adapter. What I do is roll the bullets on one of those RCBS case lube pads and shove them through. Lanolin, castor oil, and alcohol is what I use for lube.

I go along with Rick, but I use either Imperial sizing wax, or Red and Tacky
on my fingers. Like the old Brycryl Cream adds said: A little dab will do ya!

I have a flannel rag that I have had stored for years in an old can of Johnson's paste wax. It is completely saturated with the paste wax.
I lay this rag on a flat clean surface an pour the "to be size bullets" on it and roll them around with the palm of my hand. Then pick up the rag and pour them back into a clean container and take to my sizing area. Then I store the rag back in the old Johnson's paste wax can. Been doing it that for years now with the same rag.

LEE water based case sizing lube, white stuff in a tube

sandwich bag and a little wax, swish around, like BLL, let dry or use wet

rinse with water, if you want

Thanks, everyone, for your input.

Don't know why I never thought of using case lube. I use Royal (love its smell) and will give it a try.

Wire pulling lube (Lowes, Home Depot, etc.) applied by hand or swirled around in a plastic bowl or baggie is another option.

I have used unique case lube as Rick describes as well. It all works fine. Just need a touch to prevent smearing the soft serve & make hard ones go through easier.
