I love my revolvers !
This revolver is one of my favorites. It is a 6 inch, Smith 686-6, 357 Mag. A fine revolver !
I have several automatic pistols, but at heart....I'm still a revolver man.
The 357 Magnum is now 81 years, but the cartridge is a VERY LONG WAY from being obsolete. It is still a very potent cartridge with the wide variety of bullet molds and propellants that are available to cast bullet shooters today.

She's really beautiful Ben. S & W's 686 and Colt's Python are the only handguns I ever felt, looked as good or better in stainless as they do blued.

I have never owned, or fired, a SW revolver to my knowledge.

Lol that's terrible Brad, I hope your kidding. Sadly I don't currently own one or I'd offer to change that for you.
Have the same flavor in gp100 though and love it. My favorite is the colt troopers, just something about them.

Ask Paul about SW revolvers some day. He can't stand em. Wonder where ,y bias came from?
I could use a nice 38 double action revolver.

I've only had a few. My favorite was a 27. The pre my existence models are nice but I'd buy 2 rugers darn near for the cost of 1 s&w. For not much much more I'd go colt.

Not much of a S&W man, myself. The only ones I own are "belly guns". A model 60 and two 642's, for easy of carry. My first revolver was a 6" Colt Royal Blue Python, which kind of spoiled me. Still own it. My hunters are all Rugers. My latest acquisition was a Ruger LCR in 357 Magnum.

Isn't it odd how we seem to gravitate towards certain things or manufacturers? Often times we do it with no real reason, just a perception of something. I couldn't even tell you why I don't own anything by SW. I did have a bias drummed into me by my father in law but I don't know why he has that bias.

Kinda weird, isn't it?

Maybe I will look into fixing that.

Most of my handgun purchases was during the time S&W was under Punta Group and their quality was slipping.

I've only got one Smith, a 624 44 Special. Only picked it up because how can a guy not have a 44 Special. :D

Ben, I could not agree more. The 686 is a fine piece . I have had mine for many years and have fired everything from a 148 gr wad cutter to my favorite 158 gr SWC, hundreds and hundreds of time. Smooth and accurate.

UUUmmm, Very nice.
What kind of grips ?
Ben, if you're asking me I don't have a clue. They are very comfortable and fit my hand nicely. I got the stocks when I got the gun, a widow's sale. Shoots like a dream.

If the question wasn't to me, then... never mind. LOL.
