Ordered a new Ruger Super Wrangler

Cashed in a bunch of extra brass. So I ordered a new Super Wrangler from my local dealer. He was cheaper than anything I found local or on line. I think he was helping me out as I was supplying him primers the last 2 years. I know what he paid me and what he charged others. I did not have a use for large pistol primers or the LR. I have 2 rifles that take LR but I have not shot them for YEARS. And all the brass I have for them are already primed. I saved a few thousand of each the LR and LP just incase.

So I have the silver one coming. I now have to dig through my mess to get out the 22mag ammo. I have 4 or 5 hundred stashed in a ammo can in the basement. I remember seeing them when I lost some 357mag brass and was searching for them. Hopefully they are not stuck in a wrong labeled can like the 357 brass was.

Please keep us posted on this.
I recently replaced my Wrangler (it went to Montana with a brother) with a 3-1/2” black Birdshead Wrangler.
Yester I was very pleased to find out that it shoots CCI Quiet ammo quite well with a six o’clock hold.

I only have a little time-in-grade with the 22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire. It is a fun little cartridge, and fills the notch between 22 LR and 22 Hornet decently. I've had a couple rifles and 4-5 revolvers so chambered. The revolvers (all Ruger Single Sixes) shot the 22 WMR decently--once you found the ammo they liked. In this respect they resemble 22 LR arms......strong individual preferences for ammo makes. I have one 22 WMR revolver now--a Single-Six Hunter with 7.5" barrel. It likes CCI and W-W soft points, so far. The 22 WMR extends the 22 LR's humane handgun range on small varmints from 45-50 yards to 75-80 yards......about like a one-handed 22 LR rifle's reach.

I have owned two 22 WMR rifles--a Marlin 783 that wouldn't shoot ANY ammo worth beans (and went down the road in a hurry). It put me off 22 WMR rifles for over a decade. In 2016 I bought a CZ 527 Varmint in 22 WMR and THAT LITTLE CRITTER CAN SHOOT! With the ammo I had laying around at the time--CCI and W-W soft points, it threatens 1" at 100 yards--about 1.1"-1.2" ten-shotters. My CZ in 17 HMR went down the road after several days afield with the 22 WMR heavy-barrel; these buck the wind better by accident than the 17 HMR ever did on purpose.

Final note--the lead-free 22 LR and 22 WMR ammo subtracts at least 1/3 of the humane harvesting range from both calibers. neither is as accurate as their lead-bulleted counterparts, in my experience. It is hard to escape the conclusion that the underlying motive for non-toxic shot and bullets is to make hunting arms less efficient, less accurate, and less effective. I worked for .gov too long to NOT see motives for what they are.

Finally got it today. I got the silver one. I also just ordered some factory black and grey laminate grips from Ruger. I went to the range this evening to shoot it but there was so much brass laying around I never got a chance to shoot it. Got to be dark before I had to leave as my flashlight batteries were dead so I could not stay and finish up picking up brass. But I still ended up with a 5 gal bucket full of brass and there was at least that much still there when I left.

Maybe Sunday after noon I will try to shoot it again. Unless there is a ton of brass again

I'm going to try to get out this weekend. A close friend past and I need to go see his parents. This was very unexpected. I hope they are ok. He was found in his home after 5 days is all I know.

Sorry to hear Tomme. Sorry for your loss.

Life is so fleeting. Seems everyone I run into has a death in the family.
Guess you can figure where my brain is...

I got out this afternoon. Pistol shoots much better than the regular Wrangler. It is the sights. Way better. I did not put it on paper but was smacking plastic pop bottles out to 50 yds without a problem. I swapped in the mag cylinder and had no problems hitting anything with them either.

The only problem I ran into was with the Win Dyna Points in the mag. They must have a longer profile as the round had to be pushed in the last 16th or so. If you didn't the cyl would not turn as the head was sitting a little proud. Everything else fell in and fell out. The Hornady vmax 30gr was the neat one with a HUGE fire ball out the end. And less recoil than the 22rf.

I tried 5 different 22rf and 6 different 22wm. The 50 year old Federal 22 mag hp was the one that seemed to shoot the best. But good luck finding any of that box again. This was from my Grandfathers stuff that was handed down. I only shot 1 cyl of it and I want to save it for the fact it was his.

And I think I cost a guy some money. He was teaching his daughter to shoot. He had a 9mm semi auto f some sort. He was loading one round at a time and would let her shoot it. I asked him if he would like to have her shoot the 3 revolvers I had with me as they are easier for her to shoot than a full power handgun. I showed him how the Wrangler was loaded and unloaded and handed him a box of ammo and to have fun. She had a blast!
shooting the 22rf. So I let her shoot the Super Wrangler with better sights and she really liked it.

So after the 22's I talked to the father and asked him if she would be able to shoot my 357 with some light 38 spec in it. I let him shoot it and he said that would be great for her. I explained the red dot I have on it and how it worked. She was hitting every plastic bottle she shoot at. It was funny she said "Daddy I know what I want for Christmas NOW!!!!" LOLOL!!!! She gave him the Daddy please eyes and he said we will see. Ha! Ha! She was about 9 or 10yo. She already knew how to play dad with the puppy dog eyes.

I was really glad I brought that 357 today. Seeing her hitting them bottles was awesome.
