PB Bullets & little powder

Now that Ben has me hooked on shooting PB bullets at 50 yds, at low Vol, little powder, and little recoil (if any), it has sort of opened a new world of testing.

Now it will be a challenge to have every ctg that I own shoot PB's at low vol accurately. The current challenge is the 7Mag, and first tests are promising. If I can get consistent small grouping with it, will move on to the 375H&H. Will be looking for vols in the 1000 -1100 fps range. These small charge w/fast powders require very careful loading, and that in itself is a challenge. It is however a chance to blow the cobwebs off some of the rifles in the rack that sit year round, wait until hunting season, and fire 8-10 rounds before hitting the field. And then, will probably come the shooting of issue milsurps w/pb low vol rounds. Lots of testing potential. Trigger time is great regardless of what goes down the tube.

This will not preclude my shooting and testing of higher vol GC testing mostly in the 1800-2200 vol range, it will just be another phase of learning about shooting cast.

KHornet i was doing the same thing this past weekend. I already have a known load of 12 gr. unique with my 280 gr. pb bullets and had since acquired a used 200 gr. pb mold and also a handfull of 235 gr. pb bullets they sent along with the mold.

Spent the whole morning shooting all three bullets with the 12 gr. unique load.
You get a lot of shooting for a pound of powder this way from the whelen.
The 280 gr. bullet is going 1275 fps., but haven't chronoed the others.

There was a group of 20 odd year old guys there that were amazed a "big" rifle could be down loaded like that and still shoot so well lol.

It is not unusual to amaze some of the under thirty crowd in shooting cast and with reality in general. Am always amused and amazed at those who come to the range with the black 15's, shoot 3-4 boxes of factory, shoot 3-4 inch groups as 50 and are happy. They seem to be the ones shooting at the expensive zombie targets.

Our range built a 50 yard bermed pit for the ISPC and pistol games shooters could have a longer range stage. Last week I was out and there were three kids and their black guns shooting at nothing. Just banging factory rounds into the dirt bank and laughing and giggling. When they left, I policed up all of their brass to recycle, about 350 rounds. I laughed all the way to the bank.

They must be the black gun target shooter, minute of door matt at 50 yds is the current standard I have observed lately.

Have you seen the current police qualification course, essentially , stick the muzzle in an eye socket and pull the trigger.

Anything further away than that is iffy at best....

No weak hand , no changing mags with one hand etc.....

That is the kind of stuff that really scares me! They were probably die hard Video game fans before they could own guns! Older now; so they can vote, ( most likely for Sanders) drink & shoot real guns!
No chance of being drafted and serve in a real army...Life is a big game!

BUT you want to know what scares the Bejezzus out of me more! It is the 20+ year olds on the range with 2 back guns ( dressed in black) holding a conversation with himself...and totally trying to get into what he is doing! Now that my friends, is a person, if you see walk into a crowded room...make yourself ready!
