that base band is probably enough.
I modified a perfectly good rcbs 38 cal rnfp point mold one time by grinding it down on the base band just to get it lighter.
I pretty much screwed the pooch on it and cut it way too thin [and crooked]
of course I was using a belt sander and not a mill so it come out pretty good for that method.
anyway: even with the uneven and thin base bands the mold still produced good nuff for tin can shooting bullets, and I don't get any leading at the sedate velocity's I use it for.
