My friend stopped at a local gun shop not to far from his home.
He found a 1 lb. can of Herco.
Selling price was $49.95.
He kept walking.

18 months ago the bean counters at Sportsman’s Warehouse decided that Herco in the four pounders wasn’t moving quickly enough. So they close out priced them at $50.00 each. I had to visit two different locations to buy the three jugs I ended up with.

Go and celebrate, you made out like a bandit!

I look at the older price stickers on some of the powder in my safe and I recall people mocking me for paying scalpers prices at the LGS instead of ordering online. Those older prices are significantly lower than what is being demanded today and the LGS is still in business and does free FFL transfers for me.

powder valley has a little FAQ question and they do little Blog's from time to time.
they even admitted they aren't seeing the powder come in like normal.
plus they have seen pretty much zero primers trickle in.

I really think our best bet is to just hunker down and let stuff sit there.
of course that ain't gonna happen, but [shrug] we really like cutting our own throats and paying more than necessary whenever possible.

Local Walmart had some LR and LRM primers other day. And 209s. I was shocked. Have two near me that sell reloading stuff.

That is my plan . . .

With shipping, Haz-Mat fee, and tax that 4-pounder of 2400 ended up costing $35 per pound. However, my local friend and occasional shooting pard was out and I was down to two-pounds. The local gun store is no more, but its last (18-months ago) pricing of 2400 was $37, and some other powders were as much as $42.

well, since we are having this convo again, I was at the St. Paul gunshow last sunday, two vendors had primers. Both vendors had packages that were vintage ratty boxes, $150 per 1k at one table and $155 at the other. I didn't notice any powder, but since I wasn't looking to buy any, I wasn't looking real hard. I got a pretty good deal on some 1x 38spl Match WC brass and some used 41Mag brass. Prices on vintage S&W revolvers were nutso...the only prices below $1k were some police trade-in Mod 64, there was a pile of 8 of them, they looked pretty rough, $399 for choice.
