Primers

i have a left hand CVA Hawkin FL rifle in 50 cal. i got about 2 dozen of French Amber flints and about a dozen of English black flints. i haven't taken out now for 3 years, but she sure shoots great. 70gr of FFg using a PRB (1/2" at 50 yards, 3 shots/bench) or a .430" WFN with a sabot will be about 1 1/2"+/- group at 100 yards (3 shots/ bench). i take her out late FL muzzleloader season (Dec 26 - Jan 13, i believe) but for the 3 last years i didn't go.

the lock time is superb, there's no more, p-bang-sht is more like it. my dad (RIP) and my brother both had a PA FL Tradition pellet rifle and it was abysmal. pshhhhhhht.........................bang. i've never seen the lag time take soooo long. the removable breech plug seems like the problem, but i don't know.

I have a couple buddies who run the gun show circuit, both a couple of my closest friends. They both have told me the gun shows have been pretty poorly attended the last couple years. Local bait shops also say sales have been down. A majority of trappers have also limited production the last three years, mostly because of the effects of international trade barriers currently.
I’m wondering if the decreasing interest/ participation in outdoor activities is a result of the price point of participation, Covid rebound, or more interest in internet activities.

Viewed some Utube s making black. Sure didn't do it that way in HS. Is an interesting process. We just used pestal and mortar and added a smidge of Al powder.

norma has the Argentina primers for $50 shipped if you buy 2 or more
Thanks, Tomme. I just order a couple. Free shipping, no hazmat.

Not to be greedy, but I wish Argentina was selling large primers too. I think I'm OK on small, but if someone's willing (Norma) to sell that much below the current rates, I'll buy some anyway just to support them.

FWIW, I've been shooting them at 27,500 CUP with no punctures. Good for light magnum loads too.

Wants versus needs. It took me three days, after receiving Norma's e-mail, to realize that the want nudge made more sense than resisting that of the need. My third order of Servicios Adventuras should be here by the end of the week.

The Argentine primers work in all of my pistols except the Ruger security 380. But every other type work fine. Even 41 milspec SR?????? I figured these would not fire but I tried to see if they would because of the Argentine not firing reliable. But everything also works in my LCP 380. Hopefully they last for a few weeks so I can order more. Have to use my Midway birthday discount first.

I'm not close to being out, but thought I might better pick up some small pistol primers today.
Hate to pay these prices, but the prices don't seem to be dropping around here. Some are selling for $110 per K. I bought 3K small pistol primers @ $70 per K today.

They don't eat anything and they won't spoil with any kind of reasonable storage. If you can afford them get them.

That's pretty good, if the only one that doesn't like them is a tiny striker-fired pistol. I've sold or traded revolvers which wouldn't fire the Wolff Small Rifle "Magnum" primers so I can use whatever small primers I have for any revolver that takes small primers.

I've seen these Argentine primers for sale months ago and figured they'd have dried up by now so I never bothered looking again. Crossed fingers they hold out or at least get regular shipments.

I guess I've just set my new "limit" by buying these, and I'd buy a couple thousand LARGE rifle AND pistol a month for a while if those showed up at this price. I'm OK for the amount of shooting I'm able to do right now, but I suffer from bouts or irrational optimism that I'll be able to shoot more in the future - maybe. If not, I'll make sure my wife knows to advise you guys of my estate sale and try to arrange for a private, first pick day before the vultures and scalpers show up.;)

Norma has the Argie SP primers, periodically. However, not at the $49 price. IIRC, $54 is the normal price.................still the cheapest primers I've seen since the regime change. Sadly, they never offered any other size primers, that I know of.

I'd like to order some, but am waiting for a new credit card application to be confirmed before doing so. I hope the sale lasts a while.

The new White River primers will be available after shotshow. They have every type ready to be sold. So keep an eye out and be ready if you need the large primers. And have $ available once they are able to be sold.

A friend sold me some CCI SR and Win LR for $70/K the other day. I had previously gotten some Fiocchi SP (work great) from him.
Back in September I bought a brick of Ginex (Bosnia) LR from my LGS for $119 after trying 200 of them out.

Live in Arkansas, yet never heard of White River primers.
