Reading from 100 years ago

I write for the Antique Reloading Tool Collectors Association. They have a website.

I am working on part two of the Modern-Bond Corporation, 1921 - 1927. In 1921 they were the only company in the US making reloading tools. This is part two of the first article 1920 published last December.
Ric,
what about Ideal/Marlin/Lyman? We’re they on hiatus? I thought somebody from that sequence was making tong tools and other reloading stuff all through that period. :headscratch:

Marlin/Ideal went bankrupt in 1914 after signing a contract to make guns for WW1 and could not fulfill the contract. Plelips (sp) bought the rest of the Ideal stock and moved it to NYC and sold what was left, or modified tools to sort of work. Lyman family bought the rest of the stock and name sometime in 1924. They were in full production in 1927.

Wow! As much history as I’ve read about Ideal and Lyman, I knew there were some thin times, but never that there was that large a gap. You really do learn something new every day. I need to go back and reread my Lyman’s Centennial Journal yet again.

While I’ve got you, don’t forget to let me know when you’ll be coming to Ohio and the approx dates. I’m sure Dale53 will be happy to see me and I’ve promised beagle a visit as well.
