Reloder 7 in the .250 Savage

I am looking for a starting charge weight for an 84g cast bullet with Reloder 7 in the .250 Savage. None of the cast bullet loading manuals that I have list this powder and this light of a cast bullet. The starting charge listed with a 100g cast bullet is 15.5g. Anybody see any issues with 12.5g as a starting load?
I have had great accuracy with 14.3g and the 100g Saeco and RCBS and Cramer 55A. This is why I 'd like to stick with Reloaded 7.
The rifle I'm using is a bolt action Savage Mdl 16.

Anything shown with the heavier bullet will be fine for the lighter one.

Ian--But I am afraid that will drive it faster than I want. I am looking to achieve around 1500 fps and no more than 1600fps.
I'm concerned about the potential for an SEE if go too low.

Let's move a notch and look at the 257 Roberts in Lyman's 4th Ed Cast Bullet Handbook. Starting load of 14.5gr of RL7 using the 65gr 257420, and 15.0gr for a starting load behind the 85gr RCBS 25-88-CM. Taking into account that the Roberts is almost a 1/4 inch longer in case body, from the case head to the body shoulder junction, and less case taper than the 250 Sav. Head to shoulder length is 1.511" for the Sav and 1.727" for the Roberts. Now compare the data that Lyman shows for the 100gr Saeco for both the Savage and the Roberts. In the Savage the starting load is is 15.5 grs, yet in the larger Roberts case Lyman suggests a grain less at 14.5 grs. Even in the much larger 257 Weatherby, using the 100gr Saeco, starting load.... 20.0grs of RL7. Others will chime in, but 12.5grs, likely not much to be concerned about. In the end, it is what the individual feels comfortable with.

Same way my Dad taught me to figure out loads for which there is no published data. He also mentioned filling a sized & trimmed case with Cornmeal to compare total case capacity.

Get some dacron and insert about 2grs of fluffed up to hold the powder down. Adjust the gr weight to match what you need

That's stuff so useful , I'd consider that about out! Try finding some or trading some with a member of your local club

i'd back it down and Dacron it too.
H-322 get's weird if you don't in the slightly bigger cases [308-7.65 argie] it gets real good if you do.
i would expect RL-7 to be about the same in smaller amounts even in the smaller case.
