Remington 760 358 Winchester feeding problem

I have recently acquired a Remington 760 in 358 Win that was re-bored by JES. When I took it to the range to sight it in with cast bullets the first round out of the magazine hung. The nose of the cast bullet hit the sharp edge of the chamber and stopped. Every other round out of the magazine loads as it is supposed to.

I guess the easy fix is to only load 3 rounds in the mag. It must have something to do with spring pressure putting a different angle on the first round out of the mag. I would like to chamfer the barrel just a little to prevent the problem.

I am thinking of removing the barrel and placing a "small" radius on the face of the barrel on the to where the bullet makes contact. Would this be an acceptable fix?

Thanks, Malcolm

1. Make sure the mag is fully seated. Hit it home with the heel of your hand hard!
2. Slam the bolt handle back hard, to get maximum spring pressure.

Auto's are not designed to be delicate.

I don't think there a spring return on a slide action .....
The radius will help ,if it is not enough already . It is my understanding that JES rebores don't alter a chamber but rework the neck . The chamfer may not be enough for the 35 nose .

Forget my other post, I have a tough time remember which is which, 740/760. I know less than nothing about the pumpers. Sorry, Ric

I wouldn't have known if I hadn't had 1 at some point . Kind of like those S&W pistols with no names just numbers ....... :)
