My most accurate revolver loads are +.0005" larger than the throat. There is no gas exiting ahead of the base. If you don't have to seat it with your thumb, it is too small. I got this from reading about a guy named "Rick" on the LASC web page.

I can hold the cylinder in my hand and place a bullet (not a loaded round) in each throat & gently shake the cylinder. All bullets stay in the throats, takes a gentle tap with dowel to push them through. using a heavy for caliber bullet means a longer bullet. A longer bullet is already engraving the rifling while the bullet base is still in the throat bridging the cylinder gap. If it started out straight that is exactly how it will enter the bore.
