Another toy found it's way into the household:

Something to shoot up the copious amounts of 22 LR, I have squirreled away. Stopped in at the LGS and they had one in stock. Been thinking about one since they were recently introduced. Being a southpaw, I wasn't enamored with a manual RH safety. However, I can flick it of off with minor thumb/grip adjustment. If anyone were to carry it, it would be Cindy, who is right handed. That would only be for walking around the acreage. Have larger calibers for social work. BTW, LGS price was better than Bud's..........both for firearm and the two extra magazines.

The only thing I did, before shooting it was to semi dissemble it, to lubricate the rails. First magazine full, I had three failures to fully chamber. After that 100% reliability with different three magazines and over 400 rounds of mixed promotional ammo, including mostly Thunderduds. I had 4 rounds with bad priming compound.

Yesterday, Cindy was home, so I had her shoot another couple hundred of the RP Thunderbolts. As fate would have it, first round wouldn't fire. Ejected it and checked for the evident primer strike. Went off, the second time, after firing the nine other rounds. Next 199 rounds went off without a hitch.

So far, I can't complain about reliability of the little Ruger. Still haven't given it it's first cleaning...........one of these days. Weather permitting. ;)

Thunderduds

 That's funny right there!

A few shots to the face, neck, or crotch would alter the thinking of anyone with bad intents so I wouldn't write it off as a viable SD weapon. Looks like fun to roll cans with, too!

Sounds similar to the 380 version we had years ago. Tried everything to make it reliable. Might do 300-400 reliable, always came back to failures & not trusting it. Got traded off with the mp9 & a Beretta 22 for the new defender. It didn't work either, fixed & sold it. My luck with new guns is not great.

Mine either, unless I take a good old one and completely rebuild it from scratch, correctly. I hear even Kimber has gone downhill in the last decade.

The only thing I like about the .380 version is the lack of the manual safety. Won't have a centerfire in anything smaller than 38/9 mm.

I considered the LCR in 22 LR but won't give up five bills for a partially composite rimfire revolver. I do love my 357 LCR, though.

I have a couple LCP IIs
In .380 ACP
Use Underwood standard pressure Penetrators for carry
As to .22LR I an considering both the LCP II and the SR22
Leaning towards the SR22
