Looks like fun Ben.

Ian,
Have you ever eaten Mexican in West Chicago? Rivals Mexican food anywhere, including Texas and Mexico.

Handmade-on-site tortillas are becoming scarce in California. That you found them in Alabama is quite surprising. Ian TOTALLY called it when he posted about the tortillas--the difference in tacos and taquitos with real tortillas is like night and day. Store-bought machine-made tortillas compared to handmade "authentics" is like comparing crummy milsurp FMJ ammo with corrosive priming from the 1940s to our lovingly-assembled cast bullet loads that shoot sub-MOA groups at 200 meters.

We will be picking some good tortillas up tomorrow in Indio, on our way to Anza Borrego State Park.

Wallyl,
Can't tell you name of the restaurant, but can tell you exactly where it is, my sister used to live within sight of it. Hwy 59, west side, right in the NW corner of the strip mall in West Chicago. Little place and being able to speak Spanish is an asset. Second one is also on the west side of Hwy 59 about 2 miles south of there and just north of Hwy 38. A more modern type with authentic food and Spanish is still a good idea. Also on the west side of Hwy 59 a half block north of the strip mall, is a Mexican grocery in a converted house that sells the authentic, made daily tortillas.
If you look North from the parkinglot of the strip mall or SW from the Mexican grocery, there is a modern built split level house, used to be light blue, that was built for my sister and her husband about 15 years ago. My Dad and I did a lot of the interior work, and built the front railings and rear deck. I think it was the sixth or seventh house west of Hwy 59. They kinda shared a back yard with the grocery there. They divorced five years later, and my sister is now deceased, but my two nieces and ex-BIL still live in Aurora.
Have you ever been to G.A.T Sports in Hanover Park or Dundee?

Wallyl,
I really don't remember the name of either restaurant, but the best one is NW of the Dunkin Donuts. My sister and her husband both spoke Spanish and would get carry out while we were there. My BIL was a wonderful cook and made Mexican for us when we visited most often. My sister used to be a supervisor with the Dept. of Public Aid for DuPage county. BIL works at a cardboard company in Batavia, and sets up jigs to cut custom boxes etc.
I set up the reloading dept. at GAT Sports when they moved to Dundee. If by chance you saw the fur display in the display cabinets on the North side of the shop, that was all my fur. Greg and I had a deal going to sell some stuff I caught and had tanned. Haven't been there in a long time, but a nice place to see what was made, firearm wise.

Looks like it must be El Coco Loco on Main St...it is a brick Building that is 1.5 stories with a clay tile roof? Read some reviews---$1.00 Tacos on Thursdays and one reviewer said that the Margaritas were watered down (hot glass; too much ice)????

It's on Hwy 59. Don't think that is Main St. I believe Main St is a couple blocks West of Hwy 59.
