I was on another site an saw a post concerning inserts to shoot rifle and pistol rounds out of shotgun barrels. Not only do they make the inserts for a wide range of calibers, But their price is quite low. An i thought some one here would be interested. The Co. is Chaszel

Those things have been around a long time. Solution to a problem that doesn't/didn't exist here in the USA.

Same thing with aftermarket smokeless cylinders for black powder revolvers. For what they want for the conversion, I'd just buy a smokeless revolver. They're only good for low pressure loads, anyways.

For those who can not buy a firearm, you can buy a cap and ball, buy a cylinder and have a functional revolver.

Inless your gonna buy them with a little
Length say 8-10" and RIFLED. You probably will NOT be happy with accuracy. Compounded by NO SIGHTS as most shotguns are just a front bead.

Accuracy can be improved indexing the insert but it will never be as good as a separate firearm.
Now the gauge adaptors are another story. These seem to be perfect. A Savage 410er for example is a delightful addition everyone should have if ya have a single Or double shotgun. The choke works exactly the same
Regardless of shell fired thru it.

A cap and ball isn't a firearm . Even if you change the hammer and cylinder it's not a firearm . The loading notch is even ok but when the spring loaded gate goes in now it's a firearm ......you know unless it was made before 1899 in which it will never be a firearm , because Thursday red smells like 4 .

Depends on the state/county you reside in. I wouldn't bet on that in Wayne County, Detroit. Maybe, Rick H. will chime in.

Laws have probably all changed in the last few years too . Didn't seem like it made much sense then . I was wanting a 1873 Remington and one of my groups was doing a lot of modified 1858 , 1860 , Dragoons and Walkers . I had a 1873 Colts C&B that seemed like it should have been a cinch ...... I shot it a few times and so ended the entire romance with SAA types and the desire for a 73 Rem .

At large, whereabouts unknown.
Kevin, shotgun adapters do generally work but as CW mentioned, accuracy is abysmal. The handgun cartridges are sort of centered, but with the variances in shotgun chamber sizes, there is no real correlation between the adapter bore and the sights. The best you can hope for is a pattern, and you already have that:).

I had a set of 44 to 22 converters. Never saw the point.

I have a set of 28 ga short tubes for the 12 ga O/U. I LOVE them! And the 12 ga chokes work great too!

And I WOULD like a conversion cylinder to shoot 45 LC in my 1860 Army, just so I can shoot it w/o the mess. AND can shoot it at the range. They won't allow BP. Light loads are perfect and all I want anyway.

And another conversion cylinder I would like is one for my NMBH 44 SPC to shoot 44-40 in! I already twin cylinders for my Single SIx (22 LR/Mag) and 45 NMBH (45 ACP/45 Colt).

Not a Firearm for the feds...but Michigan says (for purposes of charging with carrying a concealed weapon, or possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony) that:
"Firearm includes any weapon from which a dangerous object may be shot or propelled by the use of explosives, gas, or air." There is an exception: "A firearm does not include smooth bore rifles or hand guns designed in manufacture exclusively for shooting bb's not to exceed .177 caliber by means of spring, gas, or air."

So in Michigan, if you carry a BP gun concealed without a permit, or use it in a felony, it is a firearm.
