Six Cavity Lee

Another rough video here casting with the Lee 45-230-TC & Lee 38-125-RF. The 38-125 had problems but after a little work it was saved to cast another day. The 45-230 is on loan from Harles Custom Cast Bullets. I run these moulds together even though one cools much slower from the amount of lead it holds. No rocket science here but perhaps a new caster can get an idea. Hope you enjoy the video.

Creeker...is Harles still selling bullets?

I used to see him selling them on Rugerforum...haven't been over there, lately.

What is the electric motor on the front of the pot?

It's a fan like the one used on a Master Caster. Normally I use enough moulds I don't need it but wanted to concentrate only on these two bullets.

Creeker. My wife would skin me if she saw me using her dryer as a table top for dumping cast bullets onto!;)
It's okay of coarse for her to put random junk under my benches out in the shop......
Great video. I could never run two six cavity molds like that at one time. I like to drink a beer while I cast. You have no spare time man!

that's very,very similar to my set-up.
except my pot stand and 'mold guide' are slightly different, and I have a dedicated bench.
the height is similar and the pot and fan are the same..
my knocker is part of a hickory sledge hammer handle with gription tape wrapped around both ends.

Thank you!

Glad you enjoyed the video. When casting my first in '73 I'd liked to watch or maybe ask some questions but no one was round that cast. I learned enough to get started from a Lyman 45 loading manual.

Two fantastic bullet designs, I have and use the heck out of them. The .45 mould has to date run just over 200 lbs of alloy in the last year, and is scheduled to run at least that much more before winter is out.

My wife loves to shoot & cast but, no deal on the multi use washer dryer top. That is an educational talk I'd not want a part of.

Great setup!

I no longer have a dedicated casting table. My furnace sits on a commercial double bowl metal sink. I can leave it there though I don't if not casting for a long period of time. The location makes the dryer a natural so I cover it with a rug & drop bullets in a cardboard box as you see. I've done this for 11 years.
