One thing I noticed today about my Shallot seedlings.....They loved the LED grow lights and the heated mats! I got 100% Germination of the seeds and the seedlings are strong .... barring any problems I will be putting in between 16 to 20 sets! So if I figure 12 to 16 shallots per set when mature that is a good return on a $3 packet of seeds and they are the French type!
that would equal $$ in a grocery store!

Been gone a couple of days, ah, fishing. I now have 72 fillets to use to smoke and can. White Bass, filleted with the skin and scales on. I'll have to wait until after the weekend to tackle that project. Right now I have 2 1/2 lbs. of red ripe jalapeño peppers in the smoker right now. The other 2 1/2 lbs. are already in the fermenting jars under 5% brine.

If I can't use the "J" or "W" words, then let me put it this way. To pay for future Costco runs, I'll sucker punch old ladies and steal their purses.
Just become a Costco associate. Then you get to hang out in one of your favorite places, get paid and get a discount. Win Win!

I transplanted a tomato plant from a 4" pot to a 12" pot.
It was getting too leggy. I had to stake it.
It too early to put it in the ground.
I filled the hanging planters and planted my wave petunias.
A guy was selling a 1 cord+ load of madrone downtown for $250.
It`s lying by my wood pile ready to be stacked.
He said he would bring me a big load of split fir for $200.
He will bring it tomorrow.

$250? I used to get $25 for an honest cord of Madrone. Times change I reckon. Of course, that was in the early 70's but still, $250 sounds shocking.

Switching from Apple to Samsung was a smart decision for me.
Yes it was. I've never been a fan of the fruit-based phones. First, they are way overpriced. After all, it's a phone, right? The calls don't get any more interesting because they come in on an iPhone. I also think the Android is more intuitive. I'm pretty good with computers and have been using them since the first IBM PC. Got the wife an iPad at her request and I used it for a short period and found it a bit of a PITA. I also found it very off-putting when it was learned that Apple programs the phone to slow down after it hits a certain age. That practice alone was enough for me to never buy another fruit-based product.

I have free access to fill from my buddy's farm at our summer place. But he has warned me that the weeds in those piles can be pretty stubborn. Most of it is ancient horse manure. I try to remove the top layer with the loader and get a scoop from the middle. But even then, I get this strange weeds that I spend the rest of the summer pulling up. I forget what they are called, but they are a PITA.

She went bananas this morning. Wanted me to move an old painter's bucket of dirt & weeds from the back, found a SNAKE under it. I moved the bucket to the trash, snake got 'lost'. She comes back out with a hoe and finds it, tries to kill it but it's too fast. She HATES snakes. It's a garden snake that eats BUGS. Sized the 145gr PB added more BLL. Test maybe next week. Now harder than my pistol alloy. Found some 360 buckhammer cases in my stash, tossed into scrap tub. Need to get another 12" tile to add to the hot plate - it gets hot spots - not good for PCing or H.T. but OK for preheating mold. Storm warning out this morning, we'll see. Daughter went for week in Branson, unfortunately lots of rain & storms there.

The Costco that we shop at is one of the few retail stores where we see the same employees time after time. A few days ago we were glad to see John, a recently retired employee, shopping. He retired after 30+ years at the same store. He was having a challenging time getting through the store with so many saying hello to him.

I just finished playing bee in my squash. The bees seam to never go to the early squash plantings. I just break off a male blossom and pollinate the female flower.
