With all respect to the brothers,Winter

It's not only bow season, but hurricanes as well.....

I reckon we can call it a party?...bunch of Fla "necks" showing up here tonight /tomorrow getting "out of Dodge".So,not only a steady stream of bow tune ups,now it's cooking.

Ya'll have a fabulous weekend!

you too.
I was wondering if you got a chance to watch the world Bow championships Monday night.
I missed the very end but I think the Americans won 1st place.

We pretty much are,TV'less(kids got it setup to stream, but its over wife/my head).......so no on the shoot. Was it one on one, drag race style like the olympics? That seems to be best for spectators.Koreans and USA always are right there.....so prolly one or other. The US dominate compounds, much tighter competition with the recurves.

Pulled pork getting ready for oven.Got that and "wings".....wifeypoo can't cook, she gets to make the grocery store runs.

it was the recurves.
they shot 3 arrows each but took turns shooting one at a time.
top score [ring count] won the set, and they went best of 10 sets.
it was actually entertaining because of the format.

their stabilizers are a lot different than I remember.
it looked like they had part of a folding chair hanging on the bottom of their bows.

Yeah Fiver that's the format I was talking about....head to head,you shoot,I shoot.Dang entertaining.We were glued to the Olympics......shot by shot.Like a bunch of rabid rednecks,we hate Korea...haha.

Been shooting and setting up bows this a.m.It still amazes me at the difference between bows, which could be read shotguns, rifles, handguns, slingshots etc, etc.

That's sort of what stabilizers do,they "calm out" the minor details.Kinda how Botox takes away individual traits in the human face...a stabilizer tends to make different bows, behave the same.I am also amazed, shocked really that firearm recoil reduction is where it is.Just sayin,we build shocks for 200+ mph knee drag motorcycles and formula 1 cars......but some chickenpoop mercury recoil reducer or static spring loaded recoil pad is the best firearms can come up with?Sheeesh.

I'll never forget,as in permanently etched in the grey matter;

Got a 700VS 308,HS stock...looong throat, bought over the phone with two scopes for less than I'll spend on vittles this weekend. Was about to rebarrel but as a check of sorts figger'd what the heck, run some fitted cast through it.

Non descript load,10 shot group on a WR pace @100 but here's the part that "stuck";I could feel the springs in the ghetto Harris bipod humming on the shot report.Almost free recoil....SR4759,well fitted, jammed load.Pretty much a safe queen, only bring it out for newbs or when trying to prove a point to a JB big mouth.

Sitting on the loading dock/50 yd range with a bunch of jacked up recurves, texting messages to the Smith bros....they're in serious bow mode right now(they'll never catch up with the big dog, haha),surfing epay for deals.

So,sitting here looking at a customers Predator recurve. It's got dust on the limbs.Shooting it,getting it back in tune I notice the string "follow" is leaving ghost marks on the limb tips....took a pic and sent it to the youngins. It's a case of limb tip weight, along with a bunch of other limb functions but the point is visual reference. That's one, missing component on firearm recoil management systems. And spare me the computer models....doh.

even the high tech shotguns still rely on gun fitment to control recoil.
there have been some advances over the years, but yep it's still weight and springs.
some of the spring type are somewhat tunable to a load but the gun still comes back at you.
I remember when porting was the big deal.
now it's frowned on by many shooters and complained about by several [if they are on someone else's gun]
but that shape and fitment thing has something to it.
I shot Littlegirls shotgun this last weekend and my 101 again.
her little STS feels like it weighs about 3 lbs.
I can swing it around 1 handed and open and close it with just my right hand. [my left hand is almost wrapping the barrels past the fore-stock because of it's short length]
I also shoot the top barrel in her gun [because it is sighted in like my skb] which is generally the harder kicking barrel, and the gun kicks like a 22 magnum.
it still needs a better recoil pad.
I pick up my 101 which weighs about 2 lbs more and it wants to twist me around every time I shoot it, even with the adjustments and tweaks I have done to it so far.
but I don't get the face slap everyone talks about the 101's having, mostly due to all the pitch I have cut into the stock.
once I get the top rib thing figured out and can raise the comb the recoil transfer will change also, since I will be able to hold the gun in a different place on my chest.
then I pick up the SKB.
I have been fitting this gun to me all this year, I wiggle it slightly into place and every shot is more like a jiggle and there's not even a slight bump.
it has the changes done that the 101 needs done but was easier to do because of the poi/poa relationship it started with versus the one the 101 has. [about 2' different at 35 yds]

when watching the Bow shoot they showed many of the shots in super slow motion.
it was neat to see the vibrations in the bow and in the shooters body.
you could see the harmonics shake the bow from back to front and then see the whole thing start to vibrate after the arrow left, and how it shook the shooters hand and forearm.
