does this sound familiar to a few of us?
it's supposed to,,,,, well it's supposed to be self repairing, and leave a micro-film behind.
this could be the C.O.R.E beater we have been looking for.

I find it odd that it contains just about everything we started heading towards, and is non compatible with the same things we found non compatible with many of the oils and bases we tried in the quest.

it has also been rumored to keep metals from sticking to each other.

I was looking at that a few days ago, but shrugged and moved on because the coating/repairing cycle and amount of build is stated to be HUGELY variable with temperature. Sort of anti-CORE in theory at least. Might be the cat's ass for bullet lube, though, stranger things have happened.

I like the qualifier at the bottom about it not being perfect at all temps too.

one of the things I was looking at was the grease they use to seal wire line cables that go into open wells.
the grease seal is there to hold back pressure and well seal the cable off too.
it comes in multiple grades and temperature windows are clearly marked on each drum.

I think it might be a pretty good additive even though it just about sounds like atf and ester 100 A/C oil mixed together.

Might work. Start low and work up? By low I mean 1/2 percent or so.

So, fiver, do you know anyone with access to this sealant grease that can get some to try?;)

yeah as a matter of fact your gonna love this.

Bruce come in behind my post on the subject and pretty much backed my assessment of the stuff.
adding ester-100 a/c oil to my simple lube will pretty much be the "newer and improvered" version of this stuff.

he suspects it is chloro paraffin, and an the ester oil addition in it's place would make a better product.

Christ,,,,, are we gonna start this all again??

oh the wire line grease.... yeah I may know someone that could possibly find a bottle or two laying around.
there are sooo damn many types of the stuff, it really looks like it is easier to specialize than generalize in the lube world.

Heh heh. I only slowed down because I had something that mostly did everything I wanted. Generally I test something until I find a failure, and SL-68 has had very few failures, so I just keep shooting it. Then something happens like I start reading Axel Christernsson articles in the wee hours of the morning, or someone throws a few pounds of navy wax my way, and the "good idea" faery whacks me in the head.

Ah, the good idea fairy. That little sucker needs to be taken out and shot. Nothing but a good way to spend money and get frustrated when you follow his advice.

I too have a lube I'm liking right now. It is doing all I need and until I see failures in some are I will keep using it. Hell, I made almost a pound of it.

So, who's gonna try out the stuff that makes hydrochloric acid when it burns? NOT me! Chlorinated paraffins are some of the best AW stuff in the universe...at a price. That's the whole reason (with EPA and OSHA 'encouragement') that high-tech EP polyolester compounds were invented for engine oil and metalworking fluids. I guess Bruce got us ahead of the game, my home-made case lube has about 3% SynEster GY-HTO in it thanks to him, it's good stuff.

The carbon-black-thickened superduper HT fastex grease caught my attention, though. I always wanted to try acetylene black as a lube stabilizer, seems like it would play nice with the powder residue and promote CORE. Plus, it wouldn't melt in my car and I could always use it in a pinch to refill my ballpoint pens.
