Bill,
I did just that: two heavy coats of Alox in the grooves before sizing down. Otherwise there wouldn't be any grooves to speak of.
Again I didn't want to know what causes leading ( something we should all know already.)
The question was why the build up affects accuracy which decreases proportionately to the quick build up of lead layers. Answer #4 by Glen gives the simplest explanation of what is taking place
