Tore My Rotator Cuff

Again, second time this year. Surgeon recommends therapy (again) and if that doesn’t help, surgery. So, only shooting with my left hand, no casting and no reloading for the foreseeable future.

Not really liking my options.

"OK, OK, I'm going as fast as I don't want to go!"
Bummer Kevin . . . we will all come over and run your reloading for you! It will be fun! LOL

Sucks. But - get it fixed now! Both mine rebuilt/RH almost had to have complete replacement. I got lucky. It will NOT get better. And, while it gets fatigued and sore, and occasionally need to 'take something for it.' it could/would be a LOT worse if I didn't get it/them fixed when I did. Sooner is MUCH better!

Right fixed about 7 years ago. Left one still torn. Doc said if it does not bother me, let it go. Said "You know where to find me if if gets so you can't use it." That was 2 years ago. Still going strong and still working out.

Hope the therapy works out for you.

An old friend of mine went through this a few years ago, the surgery and recovery was painful and inconvenient, the worst for him was having his arm all slung up in that weird way they have to do. But, now he is able to do anything a guy in his mid 60s should be able to do and more. He's a pretty talented carpenter and does a lot of remodels and such for people since he retired from the school, so get the surgery done if they'll do it.

I had the shoulder replaced 15 years ago. I remember recovery as slow then. Running our own business involves scheduling time away from paying customers. The ideal would be to make it through until next January. Time, and my shoulder will tell me how to proceed.

Thanks for all the suggestions, well wishes and prayers. I n them.

Had mine fixed ~15 yrs ago. Couldn't lift anything with it. Couldn't lift arm much at all. Did the rehab, all is fine now but can't throw a baseball overhand. Funny, gal that was supervisor got mad when I showed up to work with arm in sling. Told her I was just coding and could type fine. Hourly contract and needed the pay. Let the knee go too long, had to use the cane she got me for Christmas yesterday. Having a stent put in carotid Mon., to prevent a stroke - but the surgery might lead to a clot and stroke? Just can't win.
Advice, got it fixed when it begins to be a problem!

Don't like to give false hope. But also don't like to dissuade with horror stories. That said, my right rotator repair and the follow-up physical therapy was zero pain for me. That includes the first night after surgery. It was done arthroscopically. I did have some pain in my forearm about 3am that first night. So I took an oxycodone. Did not want to, but the hospital said take one if you feel pain before it gets bad. Well, it turned out that my forearm hurt from a clamp they had on it that held my arm in place while they went spelunking inside my shoulder. That was the only oxy I took. Nasty stuff. Screws up your stomach. Not sure why people think taking that stuff is fun.

I think part of the secret to no pain is being in shape. If you let yourself go, recovery after surgery is probably going to be harder than if you didn't.

13 weeks after my surgery, I had free rein to do whatever I wanted to do. I immediately started to work out again, going slow. It was no time before I was back to my usual routine. Take care of your bodies, boys. You'll never regret it.

Popper,
Prayers for a safe, successful surgery on Monday. My mother-in-law had her carotid arteries cleared ( we called it "roto-rootered!) successfully many years ago. Hopefully, the stent provides the same or better benefits.

Ms has had a bunch of work done the last 2 years she put off having done for 7-8 years. It's as long a haul getting back as it gets put off . She got down to having dropped the second pan because she couldn't keep a hold of it and couldn't get stuff off the second shelf in the S×S fridge , at 5'3" it's just above eye level for a gallon of milk for her . Been 7 months and she's very close to what she was 3 yr ago . They did the bad one first and it's a good thing . While that sounds ,or reads , bad she has about 80% mobility and full use below shoulder hight and now realizes just how much pain she was in because the other side is hurting all the time now like the bad one did . She complains about it and I have to remind that the reason it didn't bother her before was because that and the hip full of arthritis were covered up by the bad one .

Anyway don't wait any longer than you have to .
Here's to getting healed up !
