Tulsa Gun Show

My son now lives in OK.
He lives about 15 minutes away from the gun show.
He has asked me and the wife to drive out for the gun show in November.

I'm accustomed to 500 tables around here.
This one is 4,100 tables.
I went about 10 yrs. ago.
A great show.

One trip to the SHOT show will spoil you forever on gun shows. The only way you can see the entire show in the 3 days it's there is to spend no more than 30 seconds at each booth. Any more than that and you'll not get to the end before closing. Huge and mind boggling.

Brad went a year ago. Have been tempted to go by a number of friends for a number
of years. May make it one of these years. In general however, am and have been turned
off by gun shows in the last few years.

Well worth attending. I could see going back in time.

Copied and pasted from the link.

"If you spend the whole 18 hours we are open to the public and divide that by 4,100 tables, You will have 15.8 seconds to look at each table.

that's a long way to walk.."

It is unreal, the photos don't tell the whole story. I saw guns there I haven't ever seen elsewhere. Saw a couple of 1941 Johnson rifles for sale. There was a guy who did custom stock work that I didn't want to ask the cost. There was an auction house with numerous rifles and shotguns valued at well over 30K each.
My wife and I spent hours there and I'm sure we missed a ton. It gets to a point where it is overwhelming and you just can't take it all in.

The people watching is also quite good.

There you go, fixed it for you.

We sat and ate lu ch with a couple other guys. One was there with his son to get him a shotgun. The other guy bought some odd auto loading 45 ACP rifle for around 2K. I had never heard of it before.

Ben, make sure to take plenty of cash.

Odd thing is that I saw very few moulds. Probably less than 10 and a few were collectors items for a few hundred each.

THAT has always been my biggest issue, too. Too much month left at the end of the money if I indulged my preferences at gun shows.

For the past 15 years or so, my gun show attendance has been very limited. Gun shows in CA are pretty much a waste of time--just T-shirts and churros, or AR-15 parts that don't require DROS or 4473. I have attended the Reno (NV) Gun Show at least once a year since I fell into the company of the Nefarious Nevada Nabobs that frequent a sub-group on the Boolits megalith. The Reno Show comes 3X/year, and there is usually a good array of firearms at pricing that ranges from ridiculous to reasonable. One firm (Miwall) takes up much of the back wall of one exhibit hall with their ammo and components, and their primer prices cannot be beat. There are enough old Colt and S&W examples for sale to prevent the sellers from getting too darn decadent with their wares. Lots of black rifle stuff as well, and I might go to the next Show just to score an AR upper half to spite Gov. Moonbeam.

The August Show is a no-go, too much other stuff on tap. November is a better bet.

Tulsa is an absolutely amazing show. Really hard to explain to someone how huge it really is.

Very difficult to get through it in one day, and you WILL miss a lot. A LOT better to plan on two
days and take a bit of time. I think the last time I went was 6 or 8 years back, maybe need to go
again. And, as Brad said, you will see guns you have never seen "in real life" before, guaranteed.
Picked up a really nice .22 Rem #4 RB there, it is a superb shooter. Prior to
that, 100% had totally thrashed sewer pipe bores and 90% were in .32 RF with zero ammo,
even if the bore was good.

Bring plenty of money if you have a bucket list.

Seems to be some interest in the November show. Perhaps an ASBC get together in November is in order. Plan well in advance and all stay in the same hotel, guns all day and sizzling streak in the evening. Could be a great mini vacation. Think this over a bit.

Sure, do it the year after Brad goes......

If I could get the time off I would be all for it. Drive isn't that bad at all. Would need to get the wife to approve.

Sounds good to me. Putting a face on all the folks I have gotten to know would be
a lot of fun. The only face I know is Brad.

So, who is interested in a get together in Tulsa?

If I can get time off I am game.
