Uberti Highwall 45/70

I've always been fond of the 45/70. When a Uberti Highwall came my way in 45/70 I had to have it! 3" groups @ 100 if I do my part. I load up a 405 grain Lee flat point with 36 grains of 3031 to get these groups. This load is a mild trapdoor load as I cannot find loads specific to the rifle. The next load table up is specifically for lever guns, ie Marlin 1895. Up from there is the River #1 & Siamese mauser.

Anyone here loading for this rifle? No doubt there are! Love the single shots!

Not for a highwall, but... I am loading for a Marlin 95 and a Rem RB action in 45-70. The load I started with/stuck with is Waters' Pet Load for Trapdoor rifles, which should be fine in your HW.

I am casting the Lee 405 HB out of WW+2% tin. Sizing .460. 38.5 grns of IMR 3031 for 1350 fps out of the Marlin. ~2" grps at 75 yds with peeps and my crappy eyes. Proven deer killer out to at least 100 yds. I will prob bump up to 40.0 grns for simplification, as long as it will hold accuracy.

I saw that new "staking rifle" they have been advertising. WOW what a beauty!! But 303 isnt my cup a tea.
I have a BPCR Browning in 45/70 its a sweetheart but heavy. Id like a trimmer version in 38/55 or even 32/40!!
