Various Low Node Rifle Targets I have shot

You are correct. I use my rcbs electric scale and trickler. I can't believe how interesting it is. I figure I don't have to go to 100 yards any more..50 can be pretty tough for old shaking hands. And I think I can sit my Chrono closer than with high pressure loads. This is also a plus for me.
Just how close do you set your chronograph with your loads?? I have wondered if I really have to sit mine at the 10 foot they recommend. Thanks.

you can come back as close as it will allow before not reading properly.
i've used 3 foot before with lighter handgun type loads.

if you want an actual muzzle speed your gonna have to get a bit creative.
10 and 5 foot or 10 and 15 foot, then do the math to get the actual speed.
or use 2 chronographs and calculate back.
that's how the guys at Speer etc. done it back in the day.

I set mine at 5 yards. I just plug my figures into a ballistics program like "Point Blank" to calculate actual muzzle velocity. (I adjust the muzzle velocity in the program until it shows the reading I got on the Chrono at 5 yds. Done.) I don't know if I have to put it that far away but it works for me.
