Vortex Venom CZ 75B

I decided that I liked the Venom I put on my wife’s 686 well enough to get one for the 75B.

Got it mounted and snugged down but no Loctite until I knew I could get it sighted in properly.

Took maybe 20 rounds to have it where I wanted it. Shot well for a bit then started to go high. Sight was loose.

Came home and got it snugged back down with some blue Loctite where it needs to be.

An Accurate 125 gr TC bullet and 5 gr of Power Pistol seem to keep this gun happy. With the PC there is no leading and the action stays amazingly clean.

Brad,
I was looking at the photo of Dawn shooting the revolver Indoors you posted
Granted it is accurate make one shoot better but It seems too large for a Conceal Carry pistol...such as in her purse or in a belt holster
What can you tell me about that?
I want my wife to shoot better but I also want her to carry when she has to!

This isn’t a carry gun.
It would be a poor sight choice for that use as the dot turns off after no shooting for a period of time. No way to draw, turn it on, then defend yourself.

She has noticed an improvement in shooting with other handguns as well, even with iron sights. The confidence makes a huge difference.

To me it was more about getting her to shoot more, that was all I cared about.

So Do you think since her CC is a Small J frame 2" snubby; to Put one on a K frame and get her confidence up and then she may be more proficient with both?

Only one way to find out?

I don’t see any way trigger time and confidence can make you a worse shooter. I wanted Dawn to shoot more and it worked. Now she can work on one handed, off hand, and double action.

the CZ would be about like carrying a full size 1911, only with a slightly larger grip panel.
[adding in a red-dot like a low line one some of the smaller guns wears would still add in another inch of height]
maybe okay in the winter under a coat, but no way in the summer without a big floppy shirt and a decent retention system.

I always wanted a CZ-75. When they released the 40 version I ordered one but a Browning Hi Power 40 came in & I grabbed that instead!!
I have a couple Vortex Venoms & like them allot!!
Good luck

Mini reflex red dot sights on CC pieces is the current trend. Both the SA Hellcat and the Sig 365 come to mind.............offered with or without a milled slide. Even SCCY has one.

I have been using the full sized reflexes since they first came out. Have several Trijicons. Few years ago. I purchased a Sig P320 RX Compact. Comes standard with a mini reflex. P1080967.JPG

Even being billed as a Compact. This firearm is more akin to a duty sized weapon. It's my current house gun. I added a CT light to the bottom rail. I like the Sig reflex because it's motion activated. Battery lasted for me over three years. Just changed it out , a couple of months ago. The open night sights are suppressor height so they can be used if the reflex were to fail.

I have a Vortex Venom on my Ruger Mark IV Lite 22 pistol. It's not a bad sight but it isn't something I would trust. I don't care for manual operation on anything but a plinker. Was an issue , right out of the box, getting the battery cover on after installing the battery. Last time I used it I didn't think the sight was responding to changing the dot intensity. Should probably try installing a new battery before I contact Vortex. Won't be buying another. Bushnell's offering is junk. Didn't last 100 rounds on a 45 LC BH.

Update: Went and installed a new battery in the Venom. Dot intensity adjustment works again. Had something similar with a Vortex SPARC red dot sight. Couldn't turn the thing off. New battery was all that was needed. :headbang: Apparently, low batteries will do weird things in Vortex products.

I am such a Luddite. None of my handguns wear "glasses", and only 30% of my rifles are so equipped. Yes, I am a heretic.
