Vortex Venom

Just got a Venom for my wife to use on her 686. Reducing sighting errors should help her shooting, not that it was bad to start with. Hitting well makes it more enjoyable and that means she is more prone to shoot with me.

Now to order a mount for it.

Yes it is. 6 MOA dot, adjustable for brightness. I found a small S&W specific picatinny base that goes in the space machines into top strap for the rear sight. Revolver is already drilled for this type of mount!
Vortex Venom comes with an adapter plate for picatinny rails.

Wife can't see the sights either huh? I've been threatening to just put Crimson Trace stocks on all my handguns.

She can see them but glasses that let her see the sight blur the target.
I will do anything to keep her shooting with me.
Who knows, something like this might end up on the CZ75.

I have a Red Dot Canik and Ruger PC Carbine that are both Vortex. I like them much better than the laser sights I tried.
Brad - I know the problem, clear sights & fuzzy targets; the red dot really helps.

A friend of mine gave my wife a very nice laser sight for her S&W Mod 32 Terrier ( 38 S&W) We have yet to put it on ( Over the past 3 Years)
It is that she shoots the pistol so well double action with the open sights that we feel the point & shoot laser dot makes taking out the bad guy too easy!

Don't mean to be Debbie downer but 6 moa is for attaining rapid flash sight picture. I find it hard to try for groups with more than 2moa dot. She'll be using a tiny point at the top of the dot for groups.

On the plus side those big dots are really fast & fun for close in time sensitive stuff where groups aren't the concern.

This will be largely used at reasonably close range. Small groups aren’t really the concern as much as eliminating the trouble of finding the front sight and target at the same time.

Just put one of the Vortex reflexes on the 22/45 Lite. I went with the 3 minute dot, which I prefer..............never know when it might be put on a carbine. Tried one because of the lower price point and lifetime warranty. Right out of the box, couldn't get the threads on the battery cap to engage, when the supplied battery was installed. Rather than force things , I called Vortex tech support. Instructed me to try to push the lower battery contact down. Not much leeway there..................eventually got the battery installed but the cover is barely on. Maybe engaging one thread. I'm waiting for the cover to fly off from recoil. popcorn.gif

My dots are 3 moa and work fine for groups as well as fast shooting. Had to fiddle to change one battery and the fine threads are tough to get engaged right, but they last a long time.

Sounds a lot like trying to cram a 3.2mm battery into a slot made for a 2.0 or 1.6.

Battery went in fine for me. Will be buying a spare shortly, hate having them die at wrong time.

That's the thick one. I wonder if John and Cherokee might have better luck with a 1620 in theirs.

It definitely sounds like John needs a thinner battery if his cover will only engage one thread. ETA a 1632 is what's called for, but trying a thinner one might not hurt. The only differe ce is fewer amp hours the thinner they are.
