Agree on the cyclic nature of things. Weather is one of those subjects you'd think there'd be mathematical formulae and algorithms established that would have this all figured out. Nut-uh. It's all about that big burning orb in the sky 93 million miles away and the beating of one butterflies wing. Sometimes I think they don't know what they don't know about what they think they know! We had a mild winter, pretty fair snowfall but in little 2" at a time bouts, not any really cold weather (-25 or below) and only a couple real storms of any consequence. Usually this means a cool wet summer, but who knows? It will do what it's going to do and there is nothing we can do about what it's going to do!
We don't have any weather chicks up here anymore. Last one we had was a stout girl named "McCloud" of all things. She was a hoot! She was funny and had an infectious sense of humor and she'd sometimes work a little light hearted local weather lore into her forecast. She was from the LA area originally I think, so she must have had a good local source for "the frog has to freeze 3 times before winter is really here" type stuff. She moved on and was replaced by a stout young man from Georgia who looks to be about 14. All the little boy reporters up here grow beards or scro-tees to try and make themselves look older and more...believable I guess. He seems like a really nice kid that is just nervous as heck in front of the camera. Ah, the trials and tribulations of rural tv stations!
