What is your weather today?

Marie and I were out and about during The Heat Of the Day (2:30 P.M.) snagging groceries and pharmaceuticals. It wasn't too bad, 98* and some breeze to keep the bugs occupied. November can't come soon enough to suit me.

holy Hanna lightning storm come through right at dark last night.
I watched it flash and glow over the mountains well into Wyoming for 3-4 hrs. after it left here.
it dumped some pretty good rain and then cleared off enough for me to see the constellations and milky way right afterwards.

today was umm sorta cloudy?
hard to tell.
the smoke haze was so bad it was yellow light until late in the afternoon, then it turned a blue gray color and cold [60-ish with some humidity] all day, I could see the smoke kinda floating on the light breeze well under 50yds. away.

when I say the colors I mean the whole light and everything is yellow and blue-gray colored like your wearing tinted glasses.

Smoke from the CA and OR fires cleared out, but have a 3000 acre fire just west of us. Cooling off, only 96 today and high winds expected tomorrow at 20+.

It is 70* and mostly cloudy at dawn. The weather guesser says we are headed for a humid high of 82* with a chance of rain in the evening.

Currently 72* with 91% humidity. Forecast high is 93* with the humidity to drop to 45% around 4 PM. Typical Arkansas Summer day.

Some thunderstorms, a couple of small confirmed tornados, some very heavy localized rains with flash flooding, road damage, trees down, etc. Right here at Thorn Hollow we got .7" and it was a decent gentle rain, just a few miles away the crick valleys were roaring mud filled and lots of ruined round bales. I have never understood leaving round bales worth 80 bucks a piece parked in the bottoms.

The skies opened up last night. One part of town got 2” in 30 min. Flash flooding in downtown Omaha.
I stayed nice and dry, worst of it went a few miles north.

Nice sunny day today.

Three days of cool weather predicted. 79* today, 85* tomorrow and 89* on Tuesday. Then back to August, 101 -105 for the rest of the week. Love that Alaskan air.

Sunshine got the morning off to quite a weird start, but it took less than an hour till the shadows disappeared and the June Gloom normalcy returned.

Mid-90s yesterday and today, not real bad here. Still have some humidity as well, which might keep the fires at bay. We didn't turn on the A/C until 3 P.M. yesterday, it only ran for about 3 hours. Likely the same sitch will prevail today.

We were warm and humid this morning, hazy clouds. I mowed the grass and at about 2:30 it started to pour as hard as I have ever seen it. Thunder lightning and the streets flooded over the curbs, easements and onto the sidewalks.....all in a matter of 20 min. It has eased a bit now....thank goodness another hour or two of the deluge and I would be looking up Noah about building a big boat.

Wow 3 hours a day? I set my HVAC to 75 inside temp and leave it on 24/7. 94 degrees right now, 93 yesterday. It switches off & on all day, all night. House stays right at 75 and reduces interior humidity. July electric bill was under $100. Money very well spent in my book.

Made it up to 99 degrees today. House interior stays at 76. I don't like it too hot when I sleep (if I can sleep) and overnight low tonight may not make it below 80. So, may turn the thermostat down to 72 for a couple of hours as we make our way to bed tonight.
Wish we had climate zoning like the Winelover palace has.

thistles will die if you let them flower.
then chop the head off before it seeds.

That's exactly what I do, but have to do it in a few waves as they come ripe. Reason is the wild honeybees and butterflies need something to eat around thistle time when there is little else available here in the chalk hills of this thinly-veiled desert. I snip the expired heads into a bucket and send them to the landfill.

That is one huge advantage to the mini-split heat pump system we use. MBR at 65 and the rest at 69. Kitchen/dining gets turned down when expecting more than the usual warm bodies as no one likes to sweat while they eat. I assume you have a central air handling system which can be very effective at zone control if you utilize louvers.

never even put the brackets up for the A.C. unit.
the July days were near 90 but the nights were still in the 50's so opening a few doors took care of everything.

I have been able to feel some fall in the air the last few days, the light and breezes have just felt fall like.
our daytime temps have felt more like late September rather than early august, and the night time temps in the low-mid 40's have surely contributed to the feeling.
