Very un-desert-like currently. 78* right now, and 80% HUMIDITY. Skies are overcast, flash flood warnings are issued, and we got several bursts of heavy rain last night. Supposed to top out at 87*, we will see how things go.
94* just barely right now, still kinda humid (for here, anyway) and thunderheads are boiling up over the mountains to the east and northeast. The girls all got back from Monsoon Central (Phoenix, AZ) last night in good order. Driving home on Monday saves more than an hour over driving home Sunday afternoon.
Weather guessers scheduled a clear blue sky and a high of 73. The sky is a clear blue, but the temperature is a miserable 81, and there is but the gentlest of breezes.
We were sunny and hit a high of 90*. The national weather service just posted flash flood alerts for most of southern Michigan for the next 18 hours. I guess that means we can expect some heavy T-storms. Ugh. We have had enough rain for a while.
Sunshine hot and humid. Hundred degrees forecasted, for today and tomorrow. Saturday 97 degrees. Bit of relief, on Sunday, 82* with chance of scattered T-storms.
76* with a forecasted high of 84. The big storms missed us, we are partly cloudy with a chance of showers. They cancelled the flood watch (knowing our weathermen I should probably worry about floods now that they cancelled the watch).
We had a nice T-storm roll through just after midnight. From what consciousness I had it seems like about 3 or 4 waves rolled through of varying intensity. The yard is full of small dead branches from the silver maple, but the big trees themselves did not fall on the house. It was a bit of a shock when the curtain blew in and let cold rain hit me on my bare back. I'll need to check the rain gauge later.
Another "heat dome" building this weekend, expecting 104 and less than 10% humidity. Lawns and delicate plants are dying no matter how much water you put on. 14 hours of sun and low humidity is a killer. Two days ago we had a thin cloud cover all day and my grass picked up, but brown again last evening.
We haven't had any rain since the weekend. Been in the mid 90's all week. Grass/weeds still haven't dried out enough to mow, in the AM. After that it, just gets too stinking hot to consider mowing. Just came in from walking Bella, still seeing glistening on the grassy areas.
Typical mid-July-to-mid-August weather going on here--mid- to high-90s, more humid than normal, and clouds boiling up over the nearby mountains. The clouds showed up about 9:30 A.M., and usual rule states that clouds boiling up before 1 P.M. are likely to produce T-storms and rain or hail.
Turns out our last night T storm delivered 1.4" of much needed rain. Over night low was 71, got up to about 84 this afternoon. Between the evaporation of last nights moisture and the Canadian Smoke, ( no not that smoke), it sure is hazy out.
