Which Lyman rear peep sight for 1977 Investarms 58 cal ML?

I have a 1977 made Investarms 58 caliber ML. Looking at adding a receiver peep sight. I see both the Lyman 57 SML and 57 GPR sights listed, for a couple different Hawkins rifles. Anyone happen to know which one of the sights would fit the Investarms 58 properly? I can't tell from the Lyman rifle models they list the sights for. TIA

Does your tang look like this? This is my Lyman Great Plains 50. If you have t he front screw like this one, the Lyman 57GPR should fit, but you'll need an extra hole for the back sight base hole (8-32) and maybe have to shim to get the sight parallel with the bore. See page 3/8 in the PDF I've linked to:

As you can see, this was made by Investarm also - look to the far left on the flat closest to the top of the photo. This one was made in 1987. The barrel is 15/16" across the flats though and I'm guessing your 58 is probably 1 1/16" or 1 1/8", maybe? I don't think that would matter though, because the triggers would have all been the same and the front tang screw goes into the trigger base.

My tang looks identical to yours. And I saw other posts about maybe needing to shim. My bbl is 'supposed' to be 15/16", but it mics at more like 31/32"

This has been an enduring design and a wonderful gun. While poking around, it seems that Lyman no longer offers this model. It looks like Investarm still has it available, but I have no idea if anyone is importing it. That's a shame, because these are great rifles.

Make sure you check out that PDF. If your tang is case-hardened (I know mine is because I was the one who did it), you'll need to break through that hardened "skin" to drill/tap, but it's not difficult. Some may cringe, but It could be done with a hand-drill if you have a secomd perso with a "square eye" to eyeball it 90 degrees from where you're seeing it.
