Which Mould ?

accurate has one for the 6.8
the rcbs 168 would be closer to 180 but the 145 generally shoots better, I'd want a lot flatter nose design for hunting though.
unless you plan on shooting them through the hams and out the throat.
I have NOE 279-124 but I'd like to see if I can get to jacketed speeds of published known source data . For a heavy I have a 27-135 FP that pours at 279 and 145 gr . It works in the 7x6.8 paper patched also .

I have a 7mm 168 SP, NOE 285-150 hunter and a 285 130 Lee.
I want to maximize the low speed potential maybe even a sub . A 210 at 1600 should deliver a sledgehammer .......or feet of penetration .
I have a 7x57 the might use such a thing also.

I would like to try a mid-heavy in .358 Winchester. been shooting and hunting with the 3589 for years and it is a great bullet, but a 230 of good design would maybe let me move the velocity up a bit. Plus I like working up loads for new bullets.

That particular bullet has shot extremely well in my whelen. It just floored the last deer i shot with it.

Chris,

I really do like mine :

The nose may " blow off " upon impact ? That's fine, there is a lot of alloy behind that portion of the bullet that will plow on through and make a good exit hole.

Ben, I'm curious how much the RG system slows down production? I'm not interested in speed at all, just wondering.

Also, do you need to cast faster/hotter to make HP noses without blemish? Using a Gould mold I find that dipping the pin in the lead pot before inserting into the cavity makes better noses.

Its 8:30 am and its -30 deg. I don't think I am going to cast today. Yesterday it got to -3 for the high
So many molds I Need. Saco 315, NOE 30XCB, NOE 30 Hunter, MP 30SIL, RCBS 35-200 or NOE's equivalent
The RCBS 35-200 will probably be the next. Since I don't have any molds for my new 35 Rem.

I've found with the RG system, it is good to start out by pre heating the entire mould.
I have not found the RG system to slow me down, it is close in speed to casting with a conventional non-HP mould for production rate purposes.

Prior to casting, I hold a propane torch on the HP pin for about 10 sec. , I have no problems using this system. If I cast at a fairly rapid cadence, the nose fills out well on 95% of my bullets.

Ben, you modified those pins in a manner that should make it much better for hunting. I like it.

I find the RG system slows things very little. What takes time to get used to it the need to rotate the mould to drop bullets. No different from the MP Cramer type system. Get the pins hot and don't mess around looking at bullets. Cold pins lead to flaws. Like pretty much any HP system you can't let the pin cool down.

Still working on the last one, 170PB & 185GC, my version of the RD, for PC. GC version is ~2k fps, got the PB to ~1500 in 30/30. Yes, I pulled 2 on the GC side - too much recoil for me. Both work in BO carbine & pistol - whee. Still more testing to do, this is from real front stand & rear bag vs fore end on SB.

I've been thinking a want another 22 cal mold.
I had a lyman 225438 but was a pain to cast with.
I have the NOE 45gr WFN in plain base, but I'm thinking I want one a bit lighter and with a GC
Noe has a clone of 225107, 37gr FN, when Al gets some more made, in the format I desire, I'll probably order one.
