Hopefully a short workday today.Got to celebrate this wonderful day.

Got some very nicely"repro'd" vintage 1950's-60's paper targets off the 'bay.A cpl dz are 1/2 sized G-hogs.

Depends on the conditions this afternoon but....gonna celebrate the event with a tack driving CB .223.And if that doesn't wack them,busting out the ole 700v,6mm....Walnut stock and period 6-18 Burris.

Wind is howling this afternoon.Had to grab the .308....no foulers.100yds.

First two shots were kills,wind took'm 1" off center of score zone.Third was a called head shot,which was held into the wind.Threw some more lead downrange,will try again tomorrow.

308 is just plain fun, cast or jax don't even matter.

Any day shooting is better than not.

Ever wonder or think about why "glue ins" are popular with the BR(benchrest) crowd?Most folks assume its the best way to get a stress free bedding job.Which is partially true but,you can certainly get stress free with pillars and other NOT,glued in bedding.

"Stress free" isn't limited to the process of bedding an action.Stress free also applies to recoil management.A glue in becomes "homogeneous" because of,well......glue.Where previously the stock and action are separate entities,bolted together.
Yeah,yeah,semantics.

It's not "so" much about the physical connection,bolts (stock screws) do an awesome job,all things considered.Epoxy bedding is a major asset in that connection.But it's still not a "one piece"(archery reference,one pce vs takedown).

Now enter really cheap flexi-flyer,junky Tupperware factory rifle stocks.What I've learned from shooting these is very interesting.

Part of the reason they flex,besides economics,ease of manufacturing,yada yada....is the durometer of these stocks in an un-bedded recoil pulse.

At first,and up to say a 1/2 dz bxs of factory ammo,they work fine.It's down the rd that they loosen up,possibly work harden,and then start throwing flyers.Most avid shooters have already chucked'm.

It's this bouncing around,looseness that this particular 308 X7 is in a downward spiral.Think of it as the opposite of a glue in,haha.If you hold your mouth just right,it'll work.Slack off one tiny bit WRT fundamentals and it'll throw a shot 1 1/2" out of any sort of group.

Choices are;
1-Chuck the stock.
2-Spend resources stabilizing the factory Tupperware.
3-Do nothing and learn to shoot around the problem.Fundamentally,using and understanding how the interface between action and stock effect the handling.YMMV.
