Couldn't figure a way to pull a bullet.

You won't be sorry you got those Forstner bits. I find myself using mine often. The ability to make a fairly clean flat bottom hole is a nice bonus.
My first plan using with a forstner bit, was to drill a large blind hole, then finish with a centered smaller 1/2 hole for the 45 acp ammo to poke up through. I choose to do this with one chunk of wood (2.5" thick). My cheap HF hole saw kit (with multiple inserts) only goes 1" deep.

I now realize there are a hundred other better ways to do things. I still gotta try the PVC pipe, before I do any more wood drilling/cutting, because I thought I had hundreds of the 45acp to disassemble, but turn out, only have about 50...but there is another 60 or 70 SWC 190gr that don't cycle my semi-auto Ruger American, and the brand of brass doesn't work well with my Moon clips, but I have shot them in the 625JM without Moons, but If I find a easy way to disassemble, I think I'll pull those too, because those are loaded with SR 4756, and I'd save that and use it with a small amount in my last metal can for a better batch of 45 acp.

Jon here is a photo of my two PVC bullet pullers.

The first one is a three inch section of 1" PVC that just fits over the one inch diameter ram of my Lyman Orange Crusher.

Second one is a one inch PVC pipe coupling, with a 3/4" bushing, to use with my RCBS JR press, with a 3/4" ram. Bushing reduces the slop from the smaller diameter ram.

Pretty stable, IMO, if they are a loose slip fit.

I'd hate to see some kid cut open a steel cased cartridge yup, dad got upset when I tried to cut open a live 50 cal aircraft rnd with a drill and hack saw. I use the PVC/wire stripper method.

It is OK to be frugal, but there is a line between frugal and foolishly cheap. Spend the money and buy an inertia bullet puller. It is an important tool for reloaders.

story about the inertia pullers.
me Mom and Dad was at a gun show once and she spied a NIP whacker for like 4 or 5$.
dad was looking at me so i mentioned we already had one and she was like it's cheap and you never know.
sure as beans a few hours later dad went to pull a bullet he seated too deep and snap he broke the handle.
couple of days later he and i are at the LGS paying like 14 bucks for a new one.
i think that was the only time i ever heard him say don't tell your mom.

I probably shouldn't have laughed as hard as I did about this. Funny how that sort of thing works out. He could have bought the one at the gunshow and the original would have lasted the next 50 years. I think Murphy wrote a law about that.
