"Point & Match", I would say.

Having messed about with the 30s, 32s, and the 32/20 for 40 years or so--my time has shown that the short-body calibers favor bullets from 70-100 grains, while the long-body cases (32/20 and 30 U.S. Carbine) favor 100-120 grains. The 327 Federal seems to do decently with 70-120 so far, thought the report is so obnoxious past 900 FPS I become concerned about setting off earthquakes in fault zones through sympathetic detonation. Think "M1 Carbine Blackhawk with 4" barrel", and you'll get my drift.
I have a 5 inch gp100 in 327,,and it simply loves the 98rcbs,,on top of a max load of 2400.
Loud............ha? What did ya say?

Not sure how I missed this post the first time around! I’ve been doing the same thing and already posted a picture of my two 31-1, a three inch the wife hijacked, and the 4” I really wanted to start with.
I’m loading 2.4 grs of Bullseye behind the RCBS 98 Gr, for @730 FPS. Does a wonderful job on live snared beaver.
Glacier,
Even a 4” 31-1 is a pocket gun. I’ve been carrying mine in a back pocket of my pants now for three weeks! I ordered a Pair of Bianchi 5BHL holsters from Midway two weeks ago. The one for a K frame 4” was correct, but somehow got a Hunter holster with the order for the 31-1??? When ordering I had to add to cart to get a price and somehow it swapped out for the Hunter holster. They don’t send invoices with orders now so I wasn’t sure what happened. The customer service lady said her computer showed I ordered three holsters and the Bianchi was out of stock at the time, but in stock when I called. Should have it in a couple days. Emailed me a return.label for the Hunter holster. Kinda hard for me to order off a phone, they are way smarter than I. Lol

I would love to have a 4 inch as well, lt would have a permanent home just like this nice little 3 inch one.
While on the subject of wishlist I would really like a model 16, but, I already have a mortgage on my house.

If you need .32 SWL brass, like posted above, Starline had some. I caught them out of stock and took almost seven weeks to get them.
As long as we are making wish lists, I’d like one of those machines that fleshes beaver in about two minutes, but at 150k, I’m not going to take out a new mortgage!!!

I have the 4 inch SP101 in 327 and I’m thinking I’m going to try a couple of heavies for it like a 312-440 and see where the velocity ends up. Maybe 900? At least the 311-316 and just make a subsonic loading something that would be fun and not so obnoxious as the supersonic loadings.

I am really liking the 32 long in the 31-1, it’s just sweet.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
FWIW the 32 S+W Long will handle the 311316 nicely, especially out of a rifle. There's no magic cut off point at 100 grs or anything.

Well I went back to the beginning of this thread and reread all the posts just to refresh my memory. Lots of good information and some very fine examples of 32 cal pistols. Thanks for sharing

Just ran across Glen’s article on the 32 S&W long which I had bookmark and forgotten about.

That's a nice custom K-32 in that article!

As part of my recent decision to avoid running shorter rimmed cartridges in longer chambers, motivated by the fact that I have enough guns in different chamberings, I got to thinking I might want a K-32. This intensified after I was given several hundred .32 S&W wadcutter rounds. Then I checked the prices on K-32s! I suppose I'll just have to get an Official Police in .32 and call it good enough.

An OP or one of the J frames or even a Ruger SA or DA would do it. Adjustable sights can be added to older fixed sight guns if you know a decent 'smith. I searched for a K-32 for years before I stumbled on to one. You'd think Smith would make a run just for the heck of it...

Yeah, and I'd hold my nose and buy it even with the lock.

Did Ruger ever make anything in .32 S&W Long?

To the best of my knowledge, no.
Ruger made the Single-Six in 32 H&R Mag and the they make the SP101 in 327 Federal but I can't recall a Ruger chambered in 32 S&W Long, not that you couldn't chamber that round in one of those longer chambers for 32 H&R Mag or 327 Fed.

I have the .32 H&R Single Six and I recently acquired a .327 Federal Single Seven Bisley. I just want a .32 S&W to round out the set.

don't care about the gun so much [which i'd wrap up and leave in the box]
but i'm pretty jealous about that 45 mold.
