High Point 45 Cabine

My brother picks one up on Tuesday. Any of you have any experience with these ugly little rifles? Will they feed swc bullets? I have a H&G68 clone.

The example I had fed anything that would fit in the magazine.
Some folks have trouble with the Pro Mags , I did not . They come with 2 9 round mags that will also work in the pistols . The pistol mags don't work in the carbines they are about 1 round too short . I bought the 14 round mags which add to the aesthetics of the arm .

I didn't care for the spring loaded recoil pad it allows for too much something that pulled my beard . The sights are usable but leave something to be desired. It easily doubled the 25 yd range of the companion revolver with similar groups . At a fun event I was able to make 4/7 hits kneeling one knee rest at 147 yd on a 12×18 plate .

Ugly ? yep .
Reliable? Yep .
Nope it ain't a 1927/8 but it weighs half as much and was $240 when 1928 clones went though $1250 . Mine was a garbage disposal for ammo from the H&G130 to the 454424 .

Same with mine. Only problem I have is the orig sights, and now a mounted red dot has to cranked all the way to the left to get things zeroed. I thought it was the sights, and a red dot would fix it. I have yet to go back to Hi-Point to see what can be done.

back in the day shotguns come like that sometimes.
i've seen guys use a tow ball to straighten the barrel on a 20-K Perazzi.
i'm not sayin Hi-Pint would do that, but i'd imagine 2 tow balls mounted to a table would be in their tool inventory somewhere.

I've had mine for probably five years now, it eats the Lee 200 gr. SWC, H&G#68 clone from MP, NOE 230 gr. FN / HP/ CP as well as the Lee 230 gr. RN and TC bullets.

Tree/two tow balls, eh. And yeah, I could see it in their inventory! Not sure I would do it on a Perazzi, but... I do know a buddy used the tree for a 12 ga, and another one unbent a bbl for me on an Argentine 43 Spanish Mauser!

Common practice with muzzle loaders out in places with trees.
Have seen the same procedure done over two firewood hunks and pressure added with a clean boot.

Uberti has a guy with a foot-operated press who straightens Hi-Wall barrels all day. The press foot is at chin level where he can pop the barrel off and check the light rings against his favorite pane of the upper glass factory windows.

Here's my solution: 100_4570.JPG

Easton does all their aluminum arrows by eye also.
i've stood there and watched them do it with a rest [two Vee notches] and a little rod tool that looks like it was loosely based on a bottle capper.
it's amazingly fast.
i'm sure it has to do with the people doing it all day long for [from the looks of a couple of the ladies there] like 200 years.

I recall seeing a picture of a Hi-Point carbine and thinking, (yup just searched for an image on the web), that it may indeed be among the ugliest of ugly guns ever created. Now if Ruger would just make a 10-45, with a Walnut stock.....

Didn't Ruger make a "PC9" or something that would have worked for the basis for a 45? I thought years back I saw conversions for M1 Carbines to 45ACP too.

My mind is filled with decades of things I briefly saw once and never thought of again. Funny how that works.

Ruger's black plastic PC9 is available in both 9 mm and .40 S&W. I don't do 9 mm, but a .40 might be spiffy. The spiffiest, though, would be .45 ACP . . . in walnut, as Mr. Ross mentioned.

Why Ruger never offered the PC carbine in .45 ACP is beyond me. They wouldn’t be able to make them fast enough. Seems like a no brainer to me.

We have a couple Kel-Tec 2000 in 40 SW Glock mag. Once folded they will fit into a computer case, brief case and other bags.
At 50 yards they easily pop soda cans. Lots of fun and light to carry.
Very handy with a Glock model 22 along.

Kel-tech was very popular among the Troops back before Division started issuing "Patrol Rifles". You could put the thing under the seat and no one was the wiser. IIRC they even took Glock mags? Might be wrong on that.

A friend had a 45 that was OK, but they were blow back and needed factory loads or lighter!
