I loaded up a bunch of .38-40 with a 180 gr. RNFP bullet from a Magma mould. I has a crimping groove in the right place for .38-40 and was designed as a cowboy bullet. They drop at .402". 7.2 gr. Unique, I think there are five .38 w.c.f.s here. A Gen 1 SAA, a Uberti SAA clone, a New Service, a Winchester Model 92 rifle and a Marlin Model 94 rifle. I'd still like a Model 92 saddle ring carbine and I'd be delighted to find a Remington 14 1/2 in .38-40.
Then I found a peanut butter jar of 429421s in a shed. I think they had a light coat of BLL on them but I added a second very light coat and loaded them into mid range .44 mags. with 8.2 grains of Unique.I am down to one short barreled Super Blackhawk now.
I now have 175 457677s pan lubed with NASA lube and ready to load from my Shiloh Sharps. The drop tube is ready but I need to find my compression die. I probably have not loaded BPCR ammo since, oh hell, I don't know when.
