Why Full Grown Men Cry

your go-to load is the same as mine.
if I can't get a rifle to shoot 18grs of 2400 I need to find the problem.
and if it won't shoot 18grs of 2400 under the rcbs 30-150 or rcbs 165 silhouette,, I REALLY need to start measuring the throat and barrel.

Right again...another friend had an 03, USMC 4 groove barrel ,again Lyman 48 rear, 17 front.
He could not get it to shoot low enough ? with ball ammo,he got it off an old older gent at the club who used it for about 15 yrs.

He knew I needed just the opposite, as much elevation as possible.

I tried to get that thing to shoot constant 3/4" groups @100 yds with CB and could not.

I put it in the safe for a couple of weeks while I thought about it.

Then one day it dawned on me, because I could not seat a 314299 sized .311 out far enough to engrave the lands, the old gent must have
pretty much worn out the throat and worn down the rifling.

S-O-O-O...I sized some bullets .312 and guess what, it now is one of the best shooters I have, no more 3/4"-1 1/4 they are pretty much an inch or under,
what a difference !

I love being able to rely on my guns and loads.

P.S I almost rebarreled that thing.

OK ....I am happy now.

Although I shot another one of my four in one out groups , the other load I tried shot to the same place!

Yes a six round group, that is all I could manage in the cold.

Now I have five rounds I don't know what to do with.

OH YA ....No whining....

Some days things just do not work out.

Of late I have been trying to come up with an alternative to Alliant 2400, as it is next to impossible to get or the LGS wants some crazy price for it.

No pun intended, I set my sights on IMR 4198 and Reloader 7, as of right now I haven’t got any H4198.

Before I forget the guns I am partial to are the 1903 and 1903A3’s in the wildly exotic 30-06 Springfield calibre (European spelling).

I shoot mainly @ 100 yds, with the occasional 200 thrown in.

The gun of choice today was a full military dress, Rock Island, 1920ish vintage with a mint four groove HS ’44 barrel.

The gun was tapped for a scope when I got it so I but on a spare Refield 6.5-20x, fine cross hair with target dot scope.

Two of the boolits I tried today were NOE’s 315 and the Lee 155 2r.

I use the 315 as a control as it ALWAYS shoots good (as you can see).

This game is shot mostly in the head, yes it is a head game.

IF that fourth round had not gone out on target #1 !

And then downhill from there.

Oh well there is always tomorrow.

P.S. All boolits were sized .311, lubed with Ben’s Red and Lightly rolled in Ben’s Liquid Lube

The best alternative I have for 2400 is AA9.

But in the 44 Mag I use Herco. More accurate and less perceived recoil.

the new BE-86 shows it jumping back and forth between unique and Herco.
I normally load 7grs of herco in my 357 mag loads.
I just happen to have a jug of 86 on hand so might just try throwing 7grs of it under the same boolit and see how things compare side by side.
AA#-9 was available recently but I haven't seen any for a while now I should have grabbed it when I seen it [how many times have we all said that??]
I use it in the 300 black-out under 120 and 165 gr boolits and either 2400 or 4100 under the 110gr jacketed ones.

I think no-9 is pretty close to steel and blue-dot but will ramp up pretty well in the revolver cartridges when necessary.

I think what you guys might all be looking for is a little thing called "True Blue" by Ramshot.

If it ever gets back in stock anywhere, buy at least two 8-pounders of it. If I had more of it I'd use my Herco, AA9, Longshot, 2400, and 296, and Lil'Gun to fertilize weeds.

enforcer is the same as 4100 and is also one I keep looking for.
you'd think the powder made in the next state over would be easier for me to find.
I can find most of accurates other stuff but not the ones I want [2700,4100,#-9/2230/ or 1680]

I have looked at both fairly close but I have almost 50 lbs of 2230, about 20 lbs of H-322, and more 3031 than that and probably don't need another fast rifle powder.
with the little bit of 4198 and 1680 I also have I pretty much got that area covered.

airc one of them is a re-run of the old 2200 which was hella accurate in the BR type cartridges.
I think an old BR shooter would push down your/his grandma for a jug of that stuff.

In one of My Lyman reloading manuals there are a few loads for cast with "true blue" I never heard of it but the numbers really look good on paper.
I think if I ever see it I will pick it up
