Thanks guys. I'll see if I can't find a 50th. Wait a minute, I'll let these guys hunt up the manual after I explain what they are looking for and why.

They will be on sale when the 51st comes out. And they might prefer a hardback copy.

I don’t mind sharing information with fellow reloaders. Many of these “kids” asking the questions may not have a father, grandfather or uncle to ask. On top of that, components aren’t available anymore and people can’t afford to test like some of us can to find what works. I see nothing wrong with telling beginners what has worked for me.

I get the main crux of the complaint, but isn't that generally what this forum is set up to accomplish. Not to give final, accomplished load data that fits all circumstances, that doesn't exist, but to discuss issues and give advice on solutions. Mentor, if you will.
I get asked all the time to recommend a caliber, gun and brand and type of ammuntion for self defense.
There is no correct answer for everyone, as is evidenced by some of the more lively discussions on this forum (9mm vs 45 acp vs 357 vs wheel gun vs 1911 vs glock vs grip angle, you get the idea). So I give advice that will help the person figure it out for themselves. Usually this involves letting them shoot a few of my guns, under my close supervision.
I try to mentor them. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
I feel the knowledge, both collectively and individually, on this forum is tremendous. We each have specific knowledge and experiences unique to ourselves that we can share to help others. That's the reason I read every post on this forum.
I just see it as an opportunity to mentor someone and teach them how to figure it out for themselves and eventually pass on some of the knowledge I've acquired over my lifetime, as limited as it might be.
And who knows, they might eventually teach me something!
Sorry, I can really ramble sometimes.

Very well said Hawk and this is exactly how I feel and try to live my life. Just recently taught two of my buddies at work how to cast and powder coat bullets knowing they will cut into the available lead supply for myself. Even gave one of them 1000 small pistol primers and a pound of Bullseye so he can actually load some ammo on his new progressive press. But, friends look out for friends and one of them has really good sources for lead and is giving me a lot in trade, so it’s getting me lead I wouldn’t have otherwise!

My only disagreement with your post is why you left out 10mm when talking about pistol calibers? What do you have against 10mm? :)

My biggest issue with "not having loading manuals" is that they miss a lot more important stuff than the actual data.

I just completed a lab last week, wherein the manual (Quick-Start Guide, actually) IS the lab. If they can't show me they found the documentation and convince me they'd reviewed it, they don't get to touch the equipment it refers to. I also don't answer any questions during the lab except to remind them "it's in the documentation." Later, the test makes them look things up in the documentation to answer the questions.

The mentality seems to center on the gratification of making something work without having to do any work or wasting any time on THOUGHT. While one might poke, pinch and swipe their way through a trial-and-error education on how to operate a "smart" phone - to some degree, it won't cut it with stuff which can get someone killed. "Apps" cultivate this mentality, in that if you make an app someone can't make work by 1) down-loading 2) for free, and 3) and within a few "fiddlwidditt" minutes (about three), that app will fail.

That's the way the world works now and we fudds just need to shut up, accept it, and stop impeding progress. Your "intellectual property" is not yours and if you don't hand it over for free, on demand, then you're robbing the enlightened public of anything they want, which is what they are entitled to.

That last paragraph is intentionally sarcastic, let's say "satirical," and not my actual personal conviction.

Nothing against the 10MM.
I have two of them and that is what I carry when in the woods or country.
Just that nobody thinks to ask about the 10MM, because it is usually a larger gun, hard to conceal and the novice isn't ready for the full house factory recoil.
