wasted my whole day watching F-1 racing [man what a wreck that Haas car had] I hope the driver is okay, you could see smoke coming off his ass when that doctor hauled him out of the fire.

then the last round of golf from South Africa.
[definitely do not hit your ball out of bounds there, and take the drop if you do]
quite the come from behind there and that amateur kid damn near won.
[woulda sucked for him to win and not get paid the big money, but I guess they lose their scholarship money if they take it]

the second week of Bobsled and skeleton is on, was pretty exciting there for a bit when the girls owned the track record in both skeleton and 2 person bob sled.
the men promptly broke the record twice in bobsled, but haven't taken it back in skeleton yet.

and finally,,,, Bi-Athlon started,,, again. [yeah!]
my girl Hanna Oberg won the sprint race, she is looking real good this year, at least until Vitozzi gets back in shape for the fast sprint events.
[the whole Swedish team is doing good really]
they'll probably go back and forth in the longer/shorter events until some of the Finnish and Danish girls get their act together a bit more.
and with Fillogn [probably misspelled that wrong 6 times before going with what you see, but's he's French soo?] retiring, Targe Boe is probably gonna be totally unbeatable, he took third last year after taking 3 weeks off to have a kid.
I thought his brother Johannes would be doing a lot better, he was kicking ass all summer long in the roller blade runs.
there's some younger kids coming along now that are looking pretty good, they're gonna be some stiff competition come Olympic time as they improve over the next 2 years.

unfortunately some teams are not competing, I didn't see any of the Polish teams or some of the Czechs, English, Canadians, or Russians were missing in several different events and only one American [in the women's Bi-Athlon] made it over.

anyway there's your European sports news [that matters anyway] for the week.
I guess there might have been some soccer or rugby or something else [shrug] going on,,, I dunno.

:headscratch: If you think 1/2" copper joints are problematic....................try soldering 8" copper pipe joints. Been there, done that. That's where acetylene comes in handy.

A .45 Colt/.45 ACP combination Blackhawk remains unobtainable.
I have a 6 1/2" New Model Blackhawk and a 5 1/2" New Vaquero, both in .357 Mag.
How about converting the Blackhawk to a 4 5/8" .45 Colt?

Duckduckgoed cartridge conversion gunsmiths.
I'll keep waiting for Ruger to restart their single-action line.

What about a nice Taylor & Co. 1873 Colt clone?
I've looked at them, and others, and am not completely against the idea, but prefer an adjustable rear sight. I can do without the .45 ACP capability, though it would give the Randall a well deserved break.

Told myself, back in March, I wasn't going to compromise. However, reality usually comes along and makes my wants and desires fade into oblivion.

I used to prefer an adjustable rear sight too, but if my arms keep getting shorter I won't be able to see the front sight anymore, either, so I don't worry about it now. My Taylor's convertible is one of my favorite revolvers.

Lamar,
College Boy would have liked nothing better to have been sittin' and watching all those different sports and the F-1 racing with you. He was undoubtedly watching the race from his shared apartment around the corner from his university. He has changed from aerospace engineering to "mechanical engineering" with an emphasis on auto design. He and his team have been designing F-1 suspension and drive systems.

Fiddled around some more with the 243 & J-words tonight. I was half-listening to the Monday Night Football game during that time, and DANG the NFL game schedule resembles a dog's breakfast now. Ravens vs. Steelers (supposed to have happened on Thanksgiving Day?) now goes on Wednesday at 12:40 P.M. Pacific. I think--and that was the last best info I got as I shut the post-game bloviating off. This COVID response looks like the panic mode depicted in the Ackroy & Belushi film "1941". San Diego and Los Angeles Counties are back in "lockdown" again, whatever that means. I don't go there anyway, so no matter. I ignore it and do what I want when I want.

Smokey.
if he is doing that he is gonna need his aerospace engineering and he is gonna need some help from an aerodynamic engineer to figure out the down force energy applied to the various bits and pieces.
his geometry is going to change about every 5 MPH from around 80-85 mph all the way up to the 200 mph they hit on the straights.
and then figure it again when the DRS system is opened and that down force is dumped off the rear wing.

what's really messed up is the front wing doesn't just provide down force it actually directs air into the cooling ducts and onto the rear wing and over the tires and into the brake ducts and all sorts of everywhere.
that's the bit I'd like to see smoked out in a wind tunnel.

I remember Mopars having left-handed lug bolts/nuts back when I turned wrenches (1971-1981, mostly part-time), and just got in the habit of checking the stud ends for an "L" on everything when R&Ring wheels and tires. I remember a few surprises from time to time, just often enough to keep you watching.

fiver, not sure if they're using an actual wind tunnel or just feeding the various parameters into a FEA program; they have a pretty decent budget, so it could be both.

Got her Hyundai in a shop to get ABS fixed (apparently not under the 100k warranty). Second time the brakes failed to work, she went through stop sign yesterday morning. First fail dealer bled the brakes and it worked for ~ 9 mo. If pulling the ABS fuse works, she'll drive it like that. 500$ for ABS replacement doesn't go over well. Brakes work fine in reverse.
Just slightly ticked off today.
Wind tunnel doesn't help when calculating steering at speed.
That F1 wreck the other day was bad driving.

When I got into F1, suspension consisted of two wishbones, coil-over Koni shocks, and steering stuff. We'd landed on the moon about 18-months prior and NASA was about the only entity that knew what a computer was.

Sitting here drinking home made yellow root tea, watching the snow fall outside the window. Dreaming of the hunt. Have several buddies out hunting today, second day of deer gun for us, some have sent me updates. Snow looks just right for tracking and stalking.

I filled my Chevy truck with Gas a couple days ago...Gas leak...I hate that...it seems dangerous?
that's nothing I want to fix, and I have about had it with the prices my usual mechanic charges, so I'm trying a new place.
I dropped off the truck yesterday to repair the leak. He says it's most likely the fuel pump seal on top of the tank.
If that's the case, he needs to drop the tank to fix it, he said he could do it for $200.
He had 7 other cars in the cue, before he can wrench on my truck, he said he'd call when it's done.
so I wait.

Been a little busy and distracted with my honey having cataract surgery and a followup check up.

Our 9 day deer gun season ended Sunday evening. Until Wednesday I had the .270 sitting by the back door with an empty chamber and 3 in the mag. I finally locked it away, telling ourselves we have enough venny until next Fall. So Sunday morning, 8:30am, 6 deer, two adult does and four yearlings in the pasture 123 yards from the back door. Milled around for several minutes before heading out into the prairie to bed down in the 7 ft. tall grasses.

9:30am, five more trot through the pasture and stop just inside the fence line, all good size deer, never got the binos out to look for horns, I'm done, rifles are cleaned and put away. About 140 yards out.

4:15pm four deer wander through the pasture, two adult doe and two yearlings. Walk out of the pasture, lolly gag in the road for a bit, wander into a small green grassy triangle and graze a bit, 100 yards out. Pose, turn, present broadside. Walk toward the house and finally head up a woods road into the neighbor's woods. I only look out the windows perhaps 15 -20 % of the time, I wonder what else has sauntered through.

The rest of the menagerie of dependents consist of 21 Blue Jays, 10 Cardinals, 9 Grey Squirrels, and assorted other birds. Very entertaining.

They get the season dates on their Iphones and disappear until it's over.
Replace master cylinder, 1K$. ~9mo as service writer for Wards, tires, brakes, oil changes. Never ordered a master cylinder, never had one go bad on a car before. Did have the brakes fail on a Chevy wagon, got stopped just before the 400ft. drop to the river.
Picked up the CVA BO today, pretty neat rifle.
