16.0-18.0 x 2400 shot well for me with the 236 grain monster. It cleans up well sized to .325". We shall see what the Ian Alloy casts at soon.

After 6 months of dialysis, my body is beginning to accommodate the 3 weekly oil changes pretty well. It will be nice to get the missing elements of my former life back. 2023 has been a very uneven year at my house.

Last couple have short changed a few of us my friend. But we are here, we have faith family & each other!

I do not believe its a maximum or karibeiner <sp> but have read of wide sweeping discrepencies in weight & diameter. So who knows. But measure wise It should be good one. Weight is heavier then most I read on but lighter then some Maximums. So its a guess.

I choose this Eastwood lite violet as its thick coating could bump up dia .002+ to desired numbers. I sized @ .325.

I found some 245 data in lyman #44 & 45. As a guide & yes Fever will try 2400 first its been good to me but want to try Eds suggestion too.

I had a Model48 Yugo, the local Surplus dealers at the time were selling 8mm Turkish Ammo, loaded in Germany head stamped 1943, stuff was hot, 47 grains of square flake powder, 8-10.00/hundred, bought a case
pulled the bullets, sold thew bullets for 10 cents each, reloaded with RCBS 32-170-fn, and 32 grains of the pull down powder, shot well, about 2 moa IIRC with battle sights 100yds, also used the 323471 with good results, pigs at 300m

I have 2 322471 molds, Ed Schmidt from Lyman cut one for me on the new blocks and thick sprue plates

the stock was embellished with a lot of names and places, using the tip of a bullet, I was at a show and the guy on the table next to us was a Serbian, I told him about the rifle, and brought it to the show for him to see, when he saw it he began to cry, he was there, the places stamped into the stock, I sold it to him for what I paid, 89.00.
hopefully the gun didn't cause nightmares

The 8 x 57 Mauser is an excellent big game caliber. Our ammo companies do us no favors with the factory loads they have saddled us with for decades. Loaded to its potential, it is every bit as good as the 30-06. The M2 ball 30-06 loading was meant to match up with the German 8 x 57JS 154 grain FMJ slug that clocked 2900 FPS in test barrels and 2750+ in issue-grade rifles. The 7.62 x 51 was designed to duplicate both the 8 x 57 and 30-06 in a shorter case at higher pressure adapted to self-loading and full-auto systems. All three are CLASSICS.

I messed about and did not get Steyr-Mannlicher Professional bolt rifles in 7 x 57 and 8 x 57 calibers. There was always too much month left at the end of the money when those beautiful daughters of mine caused me joy and aggravation as they grew up. No regrets whatsoever, I was a volunteer victim.

last one is pretty good. i use 170gr Speer SSP but i have messed up the Lyman aperture sight (when you shoot, the sight moves up when its no supposed to.) add to the fact, dummkopf (me) put the rifle standing up and down by the shooting table. it fell on the concrete and jumped again. the whole side of the rifle stock was dinged and scratched. i had to redo everything.....so it is in the shop.

the way it was........

I have a m48... really good condition, and shoots great with rem185gr psp. I've heard that certain 8mm cast won't work with the tight Yugos.... any suggestions fro. The peanut gallery that arenm48 specific?

May or may not help, but . . . I once had a Yugo re-worked K98k and Yugo 24/48 that had the barrel and receiver filled with cosmoline and was seemingly unfired. Both shot Lee's C324-174 extremely well, the K98k with 13.0 grains of Unique and the 24/48 with 13.5-grains of the same.

my 700 is well it's what you'd call cut for jacketed bullets.
the best fit i've found for it so far has been an Ideal single cavity mold meant for the 32 Winchester.
i don't know the number for it since it's about 20 miles away at a friends place.

New here so I will say "Hello" . I'm long time caster, been knocking around other cast forums for years so I thought I'd sign up here. I like old mil-surps and am working with the 8mm as we speak.

Working with a 24/47 and a scoped M48. I have the Midsouth Karibiner, it would not feed out of one side of the mag. The flat nose hit the end of the barrel beside the chamber. Tried different seating depths but nothing changed. I cobbled up a reamer and turned it into a round nose and feeds fine. It ended up 245 grs. formally dressed and ready to dance. Has anyone else had these happen. These rifles do pretty well with several molds and are not to fussy. I found too light a load does cause the cases to to become shorter.

I don’t have this feeding issue with my K98, but my Type 99 Arisaka needs a pointy bullet to feed well from the left side of the magazine. The NOE 323365 sized down to .318” works just fine in that rifle.

I’ve only shot cast in three 8 mm rifles; a Tikka T3, a Mauser K98, and a Polish 98.
All three liked the Lee 175, I had a 240 ish grain Lee mould but sold it when the long bullets tumbled from the Polish 98.

I never shot cast out of the 8mm rifles I had. But i had Shaw build me one in 8mm. It was one of the most accurate rifles I have ever owned. It would routinely shoot 5 rds into a 0.200" group at 200yds! I sold it to fund a GAP 308win. This actually shot better than the GAP $4000 rifle.
