I have the best results with leverguns when holding them in an offhand position but with support under the toe of the butt and under (against the back side of) my support hand while pulling the rifle firmly into my shoulder with my supporting hands. Firing hand thumb beside the hammer, pointing forward, and not wrapped across the top tang, and very little pressure on the rifle with the firing hand. Pull the trigger and follow through firmly. The tangs flex and all the junk hanging from the barrel influence the point of impact a great deal depending on exactly how you hold the rifle.
