What's the main idea of the Loverin bullet.....I personally like a bullet, that I can seat with the base remaining in the neck portion of the case. Is this possible with a .308 Loverin bullet?

it has a straight base portion and then tapers down from there a step at a time.
depending on your throat shape your either seating out, or seating back to the base of the neck to match it.

Yup. As Fiver says ya seat in or out to fit your throat. Its taperd so works better /easier than most for fit.
Some of the very best shootin bullets are this design.

I've been a fan ever since I was a kid and I saw the black and white photo of H. Guy, (pronounce Gee, hard g long ee), Loverin wearing a suit and tie in an Ideal cast bullet loading manual. The black and white renderings of the bullets and the comments solicited from ordinary bullet casters about their pet loads and their uses.

All of those grooves just begging for a dose of that black Lyman lube and fit with a brass colored gas check. Gently bent in a Lyman/Ideal #45 lubri-sizer, and launched, under size, at .308" down the barrel of your sporterized Springfield. Ahhhhh, the innocent days of my youth.

I love how you turn a phrase - and I have been guilty of exactly that same "enhancement" on some of my castings...

The #287405 in 7mm Mauser and the #311467 every .30Cal cartridge I've tried it in are the most accurate cast bullets I've ever shot.
Doesn't seem to matter if you fill every lube groove or only those inside the case neck.

Haven't tried Powder Coat yet.

Nice shooting, Ben. Was that you or Trevor?
Is the Saeco #315 a Loverin bullet?
My Accurate #315 clone custom has still not arrived.

I was shooting that group.
I guess you could call the # 315 a modified Loverine bullet.
Here is a pic of the mould used to cast the bullets that
were used to shoot the group above.
The nose shape of a true .30 cal. Loverine bullet like the 311465,
466 or 467 is quite different than the shape of the nose of a # 315.

Is a GC design best as far as Loverin designs go, to be driven North of 2000fps? Or do Loverins thrive on lower velocity, as a PB design?

I'm not aware of any cast bullet ( unless it is powder coated ) that is a plain base that would shoot well at 2,000 fps or greater.

With good fit and the right load 2K fps is easy with cast If it wears a gas check.

pataaoooow.
I been looking for those bullets since forever.

I have shoed the lighter 150gr. loverign up past jacketed speeds in the 30-30 and 30-40 Krag.
it's be a bit tougher in the 0-8 or 0-6, but 2-K wouldn't be difficult naked-lube, and gas checked.
