Last week Tahoe had ski resorts with 460"+ I haven't 24 hr of snow on the ground here for probably 20 yr . Miserable winter that was 5 weeks of -14-+14 , fog , and no sun for 6 weeks . Ice packing on side walks , upwards of 6" of packed ice on all the roads .
Don't need that any more .

Thanks Jim, feeling better about only getting 18" here in NH with 45-50 MPH winds. Clean up duties will go to my grown sons that still live with me. Lucky for them, the snow blower is right behind that barn door shown behind me in my avatar. The barn is attached to the house.

How'd the crock pot ___ turn out?

Charlie Brown Halloween special......"all I got was a rock".Meaning, despite storm of the century warnings,no snow here. The wind has been plumb miserable.Unsafe to be in the woods.

Good luck with the snow.BW

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
Got a couple foot of lake effect sitting on the ground here, 5-6 foot drifts interspersed with bare ground from the wind. Spent yesterday late afternoon rescuing oldest daughter whose employers snow removal service plowed in all their employees. Everyone was stuck I understand. Her little brother got there and got here out, but her "All Season Radials!!!" aren't all season at all. Stuck her in my ancient Suburban and I drove her little Jeep. Never did make it home with the Jeep. Got it parked at the Town Hall where it may stay for several days at this rate. Came home from Town Board meeting ti find barn water froze. Youngest boy and I played with that till 10:45PM before we got it moving. Thats what I get for not checking things myself!

Saw a blurb the other day, "Mother Nature is a cold hearted witch, and she's bi-polar to boot!"

Crock pot meal was the high point of the day. Nothing like comfort food on a snowbound day! We actually had a few avalanches down some of the mountains on to roads below! Never heard of that around here.

Snow then rain on top of it. Lady across the street was smart, she was out last night in the rain blowing snow. Me, not so much smart, snow blower didn't work very well. The Kubota worked but a real pain, not enough weight in the back.

Yep Jim, comfort food on deep snow days works wonders. A large pot of home made
soup or chili staying warm all day also fills the bill.

Snow? Snow blower?
We've been in the high 70s to low 80s for the last 3 days. Actually turned on the air conditioner in the late afternoon, day before yesterday when house temp got to 81 and Timber was panting and uncomfortable.

Snow, ticks, chiggers, I'll deal with them. I'm still looking forward to tasting freedom again.

smokeywolf, if you go to Arkansas, you may see a bit of snow now and then, but they don't really get much and
it won't stick around long, either.

Heck, even 4-5 hours north of there, we rarely get more than 8 inches. The most I have seen is 28" in WVA years ago,
that was a pain, as I had a 100 yd driveway and no snow shovel! This is common enough in Colorado where my
vacation cabin is, and we don't even try since we only are there occasionally. The car stays by the road, we snowshoe
down to the house (150 yds) with gear on toboggans in the winter. If I was there year round, I'd have my JD 425 with
blade, wheel wts and chains, which I need here for my 300 yd driveway and large parking pad. This season 4" is the
most we have gotten, at least so far. No heated cab on the JD 425, but it does move the snow nicely, although it is
mostly for mowing.

Ticks we have, no chiggers that I know of, although some folks were telling me about 'oak mites', never heard of them
or been afflicted, but apparently something come from oak trees and kinda like chiggers, I am told.

Freedom is worth it. Just got the parts to make an AR pistol with arm brace stock, ATF approved. Just because
I can. :) Suppressors, MGs if you feel the need, any kind of "evil assault weapon" is just fine. Open carry, concealed
carry without a permit, no state interest in your firearms whatsoever. Freedom.

Oh Smokey has freedom. He can go to any LGS (assuming he finds one they haven't closed up yet) and purchase a firearm (assuming it's not on the states ever growing banned list). He can buy some types of ammo (with a thumb print, signature but in limited quantities) He can even shoot his firearms as long as it's not in any of the ever growing lead ban areas. See? Freedom.

Getting to be the same on more areas, but we aren't supposed to talk about that...

Finally broke through to the end of my driveway with the little snow blower and was able to rescue the Yammer & get it back in use!
That made a significant difference. I did partially burry it twice today however What a pain ( when you do stick it it it just digs down to China).
So drive way is open One vehicle on the road and 2 more that are going to have to wait until the snow melts to move them just no room to put the snow.

Yeah, Rick, some freedom. I'm sure you are in the know, having only recently cut off your shackles and
escaped from the Left Coast Wonderland. I still visit occasionally - was in SD for a friend's graduation from
USMC basic training a couple of weeks ago - but it makes me sad. So many nice things about my home state,
yet such a hellhole because of the politicians. Glad I left a very long time ago, although I wish Dad had kept
the house on 29 Mile Drive. I could probably buy a Learjet with what it would be worth today.
